Back down to 204, and going to miss my first goal which was to be sub 200 by this weekend. Oh well, I'm close and still hitting my cal goals, and getting to the gym 3-5 times a week. It has to come off at some point. Just taking a lot longer than I expected.

Since I was called out for not posting in the Fitness Forum lately.... \:D

I have been having issues with my sciatic the past few weeks which has kept me out of the gym. Although I haven't been working out regularly, I haven't changed my clean eating habits. I'm still hovering between 196 and 200. Hopefully after a few more therapy sessions, (massage and acupuncture) I can get back in the gym again.

Took a weekend vacation with my Dad, his wife, and the new g/f. Calorie counting be damned! Back up to 209, but it will come off like it did last time. I'm just fascinated by how quickly I can put on 4 or 5 pounds, and it not be water weight. This is the third time I went off my diet for 3 or 4 days and jumped out 4-6 pounds in the time span. This past time I made sure my sodium levels stayed as low as possible to keep water weight out of the equation. And if it was water weight it would come off in a day or two right? Last time it took 12 days to get those pounds off.

Oh well. It's a work in progress. My fat neck will disappear at some point this year.

Me and my girl this past weekend. It's kind of shitty that the more weight I lose, the more I hate the eye glasses I bought when I was 40lb heavier.

This next week will be very tricky. I've slacked on diet over the past 5 days and we'll be away from home for much of the coming long weekend. I hope a 50 mile bike ride on Wed will mitigate some of the damage, and I'll either run or bring my singlespeed to our friends' beachhouse on Saturday, but that won't change how much grilled meat will be served over the weekend.

If you're taking a mini vacation then eat whatever the hell you want man. That's what I did this past weekend and I would have not been nearly as happy if I stuck to my diet. Yeah, I'm pissed I gained a bunch of weight but I had a blast drinking and eating burgers, ribs and french fries every day. Just make sure that when the weekend is over, so is the shitty diet. I ate 1300 net calorie today. It sucked, but I'm back on my routine. Tomorrow will be 1500 total cal. It will suck even more.

Edit: Realize that this is a permanent life style change. You need to find, and reach a weight range that you will stay at the rest of your life. You can't be a diet nazi every single day for the rest of your life. Well....I guess you can but why would you? You can be healthy and still eat like total garbage every now and then. The problem most of us here have is it stopped being a treat. Smashing a 20pc McNugget, and large fry became normal. Eating ribs coated in sugary BBQ sauce became routine. Our portions and guts got bigger. Avoid that shit, keep portions small, keep the calorie count low for most(90+%) of your life and you will be good.

This way you can go out a few weekends in the summer and get drunk and merry off rum and bacon cheeseburgers. You can do it, and not worry about a stroke or losing a foot to diabetes because you keep your shit in order the rest of the year.

You can put on water weight without sodium.

You seriously think you OVERATE by 15,000 calories in 3 days? I'd like to see that grocery bill.

I guess it could be, but shouldn't water weight come off in a day or two once you get back on your diet?

Nah it can take several days to lose that especially if you're not involved in some sort of training...

I'm really starting to lean out again, without really trying. Hit a new all time low of 157 over the weekend. Of course, 50 mile run weeks paired with 150 miles on the bike will burn off just about anything you try to ingest.

Well, I think I'm going to have to start cooking my own meals soon as I get done with my move in July. I hate cooking in my current kitchen. I knew I had a lot of sodium in my diet, but just felt as long as my blood pressure was in the normal range I didn't have to worry. Now that I'm tracking Sodium like I am calories it's alarming at how high my intake is. I'm eating anywhere from 6,000-11,000mg a day. Everything I eat is loaded with salt. I think next week I'm going to try really hard to stick around 3,000mg and see what happens.

Start cooking for yourself so you can control you sodium intake. That's not only insane, it's dangerous.

Anyway, I was 188.25 this morning after yesterday's 62 mile ride. I'm not getting attached to that number because of this coming long weekend of cookouts.

I actually screwed that up. I rechecked the nutritional info at my work place and somehow I added a digit for the sodium column. So, my intake is about 3-4k less than what I thought it was. Still hit numbers in the 3,500-7,000mg which is way too high.

I knew there was no way my sodium could be that high without my blood pressure through the roof.

Tell me about it! \:\(

The Starting Strength program has been working great for me it seems everywhere buy my chest. I stalled at 160lbs last time and reset back to 145lbs, now I'm almost back up to 160lbs again and it feels real hard, I doubt I'll pass 160lbs. My chest just doesn't seem to want to grow.

I'm puzzled by it. There HAS to be a way to build it up--my knee-jerk thought would be to do more chest exercises. I dunno. Talk to a good trainer to see what can be done.

I know you're a strict constitutionalist in terms of SS, but it seems like some action outside of the box needs to happen.

I did my own Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit thing. Just wanted to experiment a little bit to see exactly what happens when you eat over maintenance, regardless of activity level.

Starting point, last November, 168-172 lbs:

I didn't change my activity level. Still played soccer at least 5 times a week, and three times per week lifting at th gym. This is what happened after 6 months of that, even busting my ass on every single workout and every single game. And lifting numbers? No rate of progress change or additional muscle built despite all the excess calories, and plenty of protein.

This is as far as I could take it. Couldn't stand the sight of myself any longer, so I had to put an end to this little experiment with a QUICKNESS. @196 lbs:

So, a month ago, I tightened up the diet, and this was last night @182:

I figure I'm about two weeks out from being back to exactly where I was in November. About damn time.

So, the moral of the story is: you can't out train a bad diet. And surplus calories don't necessarily mean you will build more muscle or get stronger. I wasn't any stronger at 196 than I was at 172 or am right now. Really, all it does is put you through an unnecessary yo-yo in weight. Leangains for life, yo. Now that I've done this, there is zero reason for me to ever consider a bulking cycle ever again. It's not worth it.

That's pretty crazy to go through that. Did you note down how many calories you were eating or you just ate whatever you wanted and didn't keep track?

And you should start a new thread on this whole thing. \:\)

I'm down net for the week at about 2600 per day... I'll be upping cals to 2700 a day next week... Haven't cut cardio at this point, want to find maintenance level first then dial back cardio to 4 days vs 6-7...

194.3 as of this morning...

Still here, just doing my normal routine and losing a couple of pounds a week. Starting to notice the body fat % dropping though. I can actually see some muscle under my fat now!

I might be wrong, but if he's lost a bunch of weight, there is a possibility that some of it could have been water weight. So, by eating and drinking more, he gained back the water, plus the excess calories
