I propose a thread with member's name, Flickr ID, favorite photographer, and a list of gear.

I think we might all pretty much know this about each other but it might help tailor advice and aid in networking.

I like this idea. Over at Nikonians everyone has a profile with sections about gear/software/etc, so when a question is asked everyone else can access this information and dispense advice accordingly.

If we get enough interest and participation it would definitely be a worthwhile sticky.

I think software is a good addition to the gear list. I know I often find myself asking what software someone is using.

He was a great portrait photographer unfairly demonized by conservatives and the media. People started doing fine art figure studies of women as soon as the first film was fast enough, but doing studies of the male form was cause for outrage.

cheers,

the majority of folks out there think of him only as a nude figure study photographer, but his flower works are the ones that I like the most: http://www.mapplethorpe.org/portfolios/flowers/

I could post my camera gear but then I'd be sad and you all would laugh at its patheticness. About all I can gloat about is that I have a Bigma. But shooting cars at the track won't win any contests with themes like "around the house" and "sunset".

I picked up photography as a hobby because racing was getting to be too expensive. Boy was I foolish.

I'm pretty sure I'll ban anyone who would laugh at what other people use. Also, I think cars at the track would be precisely what would win a sunset challenge.

Well, I was talking about my low rent equipment. Speaking of low rent, today I noticed dust and short hairs on an internal lens on my Bigma

As for "sunset", that is the name of this corner.

O HAI Mike Pea!
Now you know how to greet people in Lolspeak!

That's the greeting I sometimes see at the top of my Flickr page. Yes, that's right, my name is actually Mike.

ehhh, I'm not so much a gear guy, but I do like stuff that works well. I do have a 5D Mark II from Canon with 3 lenses and a flash. I also have a tripod, a monopod, some polarizers, vari-ND filters and shit. I don't use a Mac. I use a windows box, with Lightroom 2, and am starting to dabble in the CS4, but not really yet.
