Fuzzy weed killer from the states it just works. 3 days after spraying it and everything thats not grass is dead. Best $40(2 jugs) I've ever spent. I refused to pull weeds by hand.

Ryan GrubEx is the shit, forget the non-pesticide stuff that doesn't work. My neighbour just paid weedman for the 2nd time this year & and a built in irrigation system every 4am it's on & his lawn is still shit with weeds, lol. Doesn't help that he scalps the lawn every time.

I just cut it again, second highest setting before the storm came in, the fertilizer is working fast this year.

On the topic of lawns, can anyone recommend me a grass trimmer?

I want to go gas, but the cheap ones <$150 are garbage based on reviews. The corded electric ones seem decent and one can be had for $60.

The electric has that appeal since i don't have to deal with another engine/gas/etc, but the cord may piss me off, not sure. Then the battery ones, not sure, but seems like a waste for what they are.

Thoughts/recommendations?

The colour of the grass hasn't changed compared to before just sunny vs overcast, but you can see based upon where the topsoil is less that it's starting to get thicker (some soil did wash away).

I use this with two extension cords lol. It does the job, but then again I have such a small yard that 5 mins & I'm done. Hasn't given me any issue's, but it is for sure flimsy/not as sturdy as the others.

I would like a recommendation as well on a better edger/trimmer.

Thanks Kev!

Ya, it's a blade replacement for the mower. it's like a flat piece of metal with a spring "hook" on the end of each side. imagine a piece of metal a little thicker than a coat hanger pointed towards the ground and spinning at the speed of the blade. 3 years ago i used it to actually dethatch and it pulled out a couple bags worth of dead grass. mind you, some thatch is good. it helps keep the soil from erroding, the moisture in, the seeds a place to grow, and the breaking down of the grass will provide some nutrients. they sell them at CT and Walmart. I think it was between $15-30.

Is there much of a point in doing this? I am not sure if my lawn has too much/normal/too little for dethatching.

The problem with the lawn motor type dethatcher is that it spins the wrong way, compared to a real dethatcher. Horizontal vs vertical. Good for loosening up soil though before spreading seed.

Risky theres no point if you already aerated for the year. Do one or the other. I personally prefer to aerate. I didn't and thus my need to de-thatch. I probably didn't need to do 2 passes though.

You see all that dead grass in the spring? This takes care of it. I usually do it with a rake, this will be a lot easier.

The amount of sand that's on my lawn in the spring is insane. I can thank the City of Barrie for that.

I feel like hanging myself now. I've been doing it manually for years, and all it takes is a $12 attachment.

Ok, got these off my phone:

My lawn in the summer last year (watered constantly)

The culprit:

edit: as a frame of reference here is the grass in my backyard, which i don't weed. I just overseed and dump patches of soil on where my dog left piss marks or dug up holes.

I'll get the shot of the front yard tomorrow
