I do the same. What got me was you criticizing the lens for things you were doing. The oriole proves though that you can do it!!!

I picked up an eight dollar set of three Macro Extension tubes for my NEX-3 on Amazon.com. This is with them, an E-mount to Pentax K adapter and my dirt cheap crappy Quantaray 70 to 300mm lens. LOL At 300mm, I am able to shoot like three feet away, and am able to use the flash on the camera with zero shadows on the subject.

i need to find a smoothish road like that to practice my offloading skills. i went on some gravel road and thought for sure i was going to dump it with like 200 miles on the ODO, haha. i was like, "hell no!"

Fuck, that's so nice. Rocky Mountain National Park opened up last week, so I need to get to Trail Ridge Road for epic shots like yours. In the pic above, it's just a little turn off from Boulder Canyon, between the creek and the road. I can see how squirmy dirt would be scary when on a bike like that, lol. I wish I were loaded, because that's been my dream bike for a while now. You think a responsible beginner could learn on something like that? \:D

Well, there are just so many elk around there. Believe me, I take the pics with scootergeek in mind. The tourist town, Estes Park, about 2 miles from where this was taken, has got them literally roaming the streets. Scootergeek posted a BBC clip on these elk a while back...will have to dig it up.

Last time I was there, I got a shot of a coyote on the way out, that was awesome. I saw some interesting birds, a couple of marmots today. I really want to see some moose and bighorn sheep. Need to figure out when and where they'll be visible.

Very cool. I remember that video that Scootergeek posted of the elk running loose in the town. That was really neat. Though I guess it isn't "neat" for folks whose cars get head butted. lol

There are a lot of coyotes around here right now. At nightfall, one can sometimes here them howling nearby all in unison.
