Usually I don't like pictures of statues, as the statue is doing all the artistic work in the picture, but I really like that one.

In between bouts today of severe moisture testing of my Nikons, I got this month's shot of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers:



I basically take the same shot each month to visually chart the changes in the seasons and river levels. It's one of those situations where a relatively boring shot becomes interesting through repetition. Here are the ones I've done so far:

Its one of the big game pieces they have at a plaza across from city hall. I really wanted to get some more shots of some of the other pieces but it started to rain really hard and I didn't have time to wait around for it to stop.

Blackbird attack...



This Great Egret had nearly landed on the Red-winged Blackbird a moment before which gave rise to the avian equivalent of road rage. Before it was all over, the Blackbird chased the Egret several hundred yards.

here is one I recently took. At the 40th Annual Lone Pine Time Trials. all weekend it was 100+. I really do like my Sigma, but it seems I can't zone focus for shit. Any hints on taking photos at 300mm without the heatwaves?

Cooler climate. There's no getting around shooting what's there - and those waves are real. Besides, they're cool looking. I might crop out that bottom broken cone and the chick on the extreme right side along with some of the mountain in the background, but I think the car and the rest of the cones add up to a damn good shot.

I took about 60 shots that Sunday, I did a smart edit on a few and threw them up for a guy to look at. None of the shots have been cropped yet, just resized. More samples can be seen here-
