I can start my Si in 2nd no problem..not even riding the clutch.infact ive done it a couple times in the last week as I forgot to put it in first when at a traffic light
as for backseat room... the em1 definatly beats the FG when it comes to back seat leg and head room.

the em1 had freakish amounts of room for what it was. you'd never expect you could move someone out of a dorm room, COMPLETELY, in one trip. the catch is that you needed to not have a sound system, but still, god damn!

Few others, I will have to dig around.

I think that guy is responding in the 06 Si Forum. Scroll down for his post. http://forums.clubsi.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/2095472
I offered myself to inspect the car, probably after winter. Could anybody from SVA in the MD area with mechanic expertise might want to help me? I don't know all the tricks and I'm really curious to see if this is legit. Thx.

I was guessing nitrous and open intake, but the reflash seems more fitting.

thats the link I posted. There are 9 cars that have posted sup 15 second 1/4's. the forum is new with only a handful of active posters. I think that the 14.1 could be legit on a good track and prime conditions.

I believe the car was stock. I just think the guy ran on a really cold day on a track that's known to run really fast when it's cold. No biggie.
He should leave the car stock and run it again in the spring or when it's 60 degrees out. I bet he's running a 14.8.

I'm tired of reminding some of you, but when I had my EM1 with only boltons I ran multiple 14.67-14.7 @93-94mph when it was 39 degrees out. Came back on many occasions after that and was stuck mostly in the low 15s. And the only other time I ran 14s was a 14.9.

Some cars run much better when it's cold. The only problem with cold weather is traction, but the dense air adds quite a few whp. You can't overlook that.

I really want to take the Z out on a 30 degree day and see what she'll do. My best time so far is a 13.89@100.7mph in 50 degree weather, but I've never dragged it nearly as much as I did my Si. Bet I can get a 13.6 out of her when it's real cold. And everyone will think I did a VQ 35hr swap \:D

just seems impossible to be THAT much imo.

I know you were quicker, but you werent 6 mph faster than on the warmer days...

Perhaps because people have grown up and realized that the street racing life is over and they want to have a nice quality car that gets good fuel milage?

not everyone is a baller that doesn't care about $4.00/gal gas prices or $600.00.+ car payments. I really want a 335i but I don't want to break the bank to do it. might have to wait another year...

I guess i went lateral. I just wanted a car that had enough power to merge on the freeway, gets good gas milage, and will last for awhile.

Basically what cliff said

Yea, Ill admit, I'm still extremely juvenile. I really glad I got the cutlass because the corvette has just about zero practicality.. especially after I filled the storage space in the trunk with a subwoofer.

I will finally be able to go grocery shopping for the first time in about a year now \:\)

The main problem is people get married and have children. Fuck that shit.
Disposable income and freedom from parasitical kids ftw.

there more to life than disposable income and toys....

doesnt mean I think people who get married or have kids should ditch all their toys(god knows a lot of them do).

peoples priorities change.some of the "lesser" cars make great daily drivers. certainley better than the GIANT TURD(cutlass) you have crazed...

You're only half right... statistically speaking you're a lot more likely to have extra disposable wealth after marriage than when you're single. Aside from potential tax breaks and insurance savings splitting everything between 2 people is always cheaper.

I've been moving on up...except I've been moving on down when it comes to performance or even "feel".

I would love nothing more than a performance car, but I came to the realization that everything I touch is a problem and I honestly don't have the chance to use much of any performance, so punishing myself 98% of the time for the couple times I get to have a bit of fun = suck.

I think the secret is to not modify a car if it's a DD or sees a lot of road duty. The Z06 is virtually stock except for the replacement H-Pipe, and it's been pretty much hassle free.

My buddies at work have C6's.. one has a STS twin turbo kit on his and the other has a tune a bolt-ons. Of course the guy with the turbo kit has been having issues.. the bolt-on one runs strong though.

They keep trying to convince me to get an intake, headers, and tune.. but I dont feel like ruining another perfectly good car. With my luck, I know simple mods like that will probably cause me a bunch of hassle down the road.

My mom's advice seemed to be very sound.. She says, "Why you always messin with those cars? Why dont you just get the car you need and be done with it?"

Your mom's advice is the same as my mom's (and Dad's).

Most cars I've modded were bascially bolt ons that were supposed to be trouble free, easy to bolt on and reliable. They all had a comprimise or some sort of install issue.

I'd still like a reflash on the RDX since it's a good 30 all wheel horzepowerz and 40 torx, but even with the SRT-4, the Stage 2 setup, gas and knock retard were huge issues and it is kinda of annoying having to make special trips to certain gas stations to get the best gas (94 instead of 91).

I think I'll continue to swap cars with the wife for the next one. Hand her the RDX and I'll look for something AWD, smaller and lighter. 335 AWD seems about right to me.

Or think it through. Figure out what it is you're trying to realistically accomplish, and make sure all the mods point in that direction and work together.

My mom doesn't criticize my car fetish, she won't even talk about it unless it's with my wife and they're trading advice on how to tune me out. Apparently, I've been boring people with my esoteric car obsessions since I was seven. \:\(

I did just that with both the SRT-4 and FXT. Now, the SRT-4 was just too loud, too rough when modded, so that one could be seen as my own fault (not like there were quiet exhausts out there though).

The FXT was basically stock STi parts and well, that didn't go well at all.

I do realize that my results were just odd, but I had planned my mods well on both cars.

My tolerance for issues is lower than many, but the FXT was a literal nightmare.

Yeah, you got hosed on the FXT, but that's just one of those unforeseeable bad luck things. It should have worked just fine.
With the SRT-4, that stock exhaust droned too loudly on the highway, there's no way I was going to buy a louder one - though I momentarily considered buying a larger diameter exhaust and then adding a real muffler to it to try to quiet it down without losing power. But I didn't do a thing to mine once I realized that it was an impulse purchase and probably a mistake. It did show me what I find to be an acceptable power-to-weight ratio - every car I had before that was too slow, but I didn't know where the good-enough level was. Now I do and will mod the Alfa accordingly.

cheers,
scott
