its my legs and my FACE that do. my joe fresh parka thing is good enough for me. i am neither a fashionista or label whore.

You're kidding me. A peacoat being really warm? No way.

That's why I see all those people out in cold climates rocking the pea coats to keep warm lol.

a peacoat is an old style jacket....something they used to wear back in the day.....

its been quite popular over the yrs...and yes it is warm if you buy a half decent one. obviously you arent going to climb mount everest in one. Nor do people in nunavut give a crud about that kind of style.

Just like you can buy different thickness of pants(for winter or summer) you can find thicker/better for cold months peacoats that are in fact very warm.

You're smoking peacoat crack son.

Yes old style - not for our cold climate. It's not that warm of a jacket. Yes I own expensive good quality ones and they still aren't considered warm. If I was to be outside for any length of time I would not wear one outside.

would I snowboard in it?
obviously not. but its perfectly fine AND warm for go train platform use/walking downtown/around the city.
A canada goose jacket is just as useless for snowboarding.

our climate isnt THAT cold at the end of the day.

when do you wear a peacoat? winter or summer....

PEACOAT--a cold weather version of the first uniform authorized-- the Pea-Jacket. A warm, heavy coat made from "Pee" cloth or "Pilot" cloth, a course stout kind of twilled blue cloth with a nap on one side.

most you buy in the store today are wool(if good) or polyester blend of some kind. Wool isnt warm?

I brought it up because its a perfectly fashionable and suitable jacket for daily use in the winter around here.
Who cares if its the best for ice fishing off baffin island?

Mine are wool and no it's not that warm compared to other available options.

I guess it may be warm ifyou get a heavily insulated one but then it doesn't even look good and you look like a fat kid. Not good for professional settings.

It keeps me perfectly warm on cold ass days/nights when out and about.

I also have a proper winter coat for boarding etc. You on crack.

Any peacoat Ive had ...has a liner in it. no issues with wind. Its a stylish winter coat.

There is absolutely zero need for a canada goose style jacket for daily activities.

I have a wool peacoat from Guess (not sure if that's considered good quality or not). It's pretty heavy (weight-wise), but I find it insufficient for anything south of -10 degrees. Plus, I find a strong wind will blow through wool. Anything below said -10 degrees and I think you need down to stay warm.

I actually found the GAP down jacket I have pretty warm and doesn't lose puff or feathers...and that's after 3 seasons. Too bad they didn't have the style the wife wanted which is why I upped to North Face.

I hate the cold so I wear puffy jackets, even to work. I only wear the peacoat when I need to look professional.

I have 2 down jackets. The CG and a norm looking one for those days that I don't want to look like a puff ball.

That is what I've been saying. Don't even know why we are even having this discussion.

The new "B16 > all" is "Peacoat > all".

blah blah blah. You are right. Peacoat is the bestest thing invented since the B16 and down fill jackets should not be worn anywhere except for the Arctic. Thank you for your insight.

my jacket is a wool and cashmere blend and it's quite warm.

it got the zipper thing that zips up into a turtle neck kinda thing so it keep my neck and face warm...throw on a scarf and a good part of my head is covered.

Since i actually do this commute i'll chime in and say I only wear my peacoat until it gets below -7 to -10ish if there is no wind. After that i'll wear my eddie bauer parka that i bought three years ago when i was cross shopping that/north face/canada goose (when it was decently priced).

Glad i went with eddie bauer no labels that scream label whore and build quality is better than the other two.

Yeah....I am elbow to elbow dressed like a marshmellow on the Go nowadays and its annoying for sure. With - teens temporature, winds, having a parka/hood is essential for warmth with the wind.

No disagreement with peacoats and its looks, I actually own this (not some H&M thin thing):

http://www.schottnyc.com/products/men/peacoat/classic-32-oz-melton-wool.htm

Pretty good for 0 to -5 or so....but after that or with winds....forgettaboutit.

I have a zara full length peacoat that I wear to work, personally if it's a cold day I will throw an argile sweater over my dress shirt + peacoat and I am fine.

Mind you I don't spend much time outside, aside from walking to/from my car at home/office I don't stand around waiting for trains and shit

Harry Rosen FTL, I walked in there once to buy a Boss blazer, the freaking thing was $999 on sale . I wanted to laugh hysterically and ask them what the thing was made of for it to be that price.

I could get a custom suit made for that........

bingo
Ive stood plenty times on the train platform in -20 with a peacoat and its fine.(used to commute despite what people think they know ;\) )

mind you Im not naked underneath.... a sweater, scarf, gloves and hat and you are good to go and not looking like the Michelin man.

At least kidbro wears his in minus temps. Sheesh, it is a winter coat after all. the coat i have now also has a good liner on it. no issues with wind.
If I dont have a scarf on or hat...then ya you will suffer but thats not the coat fault.

He actually has a point, you can get a Hugo Boss suit all IN for the price of that blazer. Their suits generally start at $800 at most reputable stores, all in all 1k for a blazer is absurd (even at harry rosen)
