I don't ever make new threads on this site, but wanted to share this with my SoCal people who will always be my friends.

This is what you need, part by part. I've been working on this for like an eternity now, well, 3-4 months. I got the car back last week and being the first guy in the US to do this (possibly the world, I know a guy in Japan did this on his Y33 Cedric which is similar chassis but has differences), there's no step by step guide I could follow. Comparing to the 240 swap which is what I had to do, it is NOT the same thing.

Front:
1. R/Z32 front calipers and pads
2. custom built SS brake lines (I went with Earl's since Earl's store #1 is about 3 miles from me). They DON'T make a SS replacement for this car, and even if they did, it wouldn't work because the new calipers have nipples vs. stock Q caliper which has banjo bolt. You have to buy the hose & fittings and assemble them yourself. ZXtt brake lines may have worked, but I didn't think about it and neither did Tom at Earl's.
3. STOCK or aftermarket Y33 Q rotors. Z32 TT rotors are TOO SMALL. Apparently, the Y33 has 30mm rotors stock, but they're 11.75" Vs. the Z rotors which are 11.25", so the Q has pretty huge rotors, even stock. When the Z rotors were on, the brake pads were about .25" off the edge of the rotor, so back to R1 Concepts I went to exchange Z rotors for Q rotors. Thankfully, the guys at R1 are way cool and gave me no hassle even though I bought them like 2 months ago.

Rear:
This is the easy part.
1. R/Z32 calipers and pads
2. SS brake lines made for the 300ZX TT
3. Q or ZX TT rotors (rear are same size and both cars use the inner drum park brake)
4. And you have to cut the dust shield to fit the new caliper
The rear swap on 240's require some different cables for parking brake but since the Q has the same internal drum parking brake, it is a direct swap.

Total cost:
front calipers ~200
front caliper clips, pins, springs, etc. from Nissan dealer ~50
front pads (Axxis Ultimates) ~65
front Y33 Q slot / drill rotors ~100
front SS brake lines ~100
rear calipers ~120
rear caliper re-build kit ~20
rear pads ~50
rear Y33 Q or Z32tt rotors ~80
rear ss brake lines ~100

Depending on the wheels you have, they either will or will not clear the new calipers. In my case, they did not, so I bought 15mm Kics bolt on spacers, (1st rate quality, made in Japan). 15mm turned out the perfect amount, I had guessed at 10mm, but with 15mm spacers, you can fit TWO thick business cards between wheel and caliper and that's about it. The rears amazingly don't rub because the fenders are already rolled, they clear by like a credit card, but the fronts rub on big bumps, looks sick though and I'll roll the front fenders more to compensate.

I completely dissasembled the calipers, stripped all paint, tapped them up and did 3 coats of Ford dark blue over 3 days, let them cure 3 days in the sun and then sanded the NISSAN letters back to bare metal.

Axxis Ultimate pads are DUSTY, but man do they bite.

Thanks boys. I think it's pretty fucking sick myself. I'm getting side skirts and a rear lip next, and that's about it, done, maybe a roof/back window spoiler thingie.

I seriously hate these Axxis Ult pads though, I'm gonna change them on Monday to something less aggressive, noisy and dusty. My wheels are dark grey 2 days after cleaning them and they squeal like a stuck pig unless you brake hard, but when I'm just cruising, I hate it.

yeah my pads used to do that when they got hot, but now they don't make anymore noise =( makes me think a rock got in between the rotor and the pad.

Swapped the Ultiimates for Axxis Deluxe and now I'm happy camper. Looks great, works great, no noise and hardly any dust. Yay

At this point, it's worth so little (being a V8 getting 13 city and 20 hwy doesn't help with the gas prices) that I am gonna keep it indefinitely. It's probably worth 8k with everything on it and there's more than 8k in mods alone. I still love the car, it gets lots of looks and questions, it's still in cherry condition, runs & drives perfect, there's no point to sell it IMO.

Good work on engineering the kit! Look at the Green Stuff pads....an offroading friend of mine develops big brake kits for Vanco using off the shelf parts. He's got some kickass stuff for Jeeps, but in very extensive road testing with multiple subjects and brake kits, he's found these to be thee best for daily driving, cold, hot, noise, wear...His kits get automatic Wranglers on 35's + to lock up if you stomp on it. The previous standard for pads was Autozone performance friction. I used them on my tow rig and they were great, and cheap, and for awhile there had a lifetime warranty. Just make sure no matter what pads you get that you bed them properly...what a difference it makes. Hard to find a place to get up to speed and brake without stopping completely sometimes but totally worth the hassle.

Yeah, the street where we're located (you remember) is long enough, and after 5, there's nary a car on it, so I can run it up, stomp brakes, etc over and over to bed them in. By now, I am on the 3rd set of pads, they're Sumitomo Ceramic, but I can't get them to activate ABS any more. They're the OE pads for the Sumitomo Nissan calipers, but they lack the bite of the Axxis Deluxe. I brought some Axis (one x Axis, not same company) Noise Dampers back from Japan and that did the trick. Only now I want to put the Axxis Deluxe pads back in, but the dampers are single use (sticky backed rubber basically) and so I'm stuck with the Sumitomo pads till I buy some more of the Axis Noise Damper kits of the factory shims. Turns out all along the lack of factory shims or noise dampers was the problem lol.

I actually helped out a bro with a Q like mine in Hawaii who's doing the same swap except with the 350z track rotors get all his parts and just shipped it off to him yesterday. He got the calipers himself from Yahoo Japan auctions, but I got his rotors, pads and lines for him. Can't wait to see how his comes out with the 13" rotors in front. I'm buying his body kit, soon I'll have full front and rear bumper replacements, sides and then going a little lower.

Thanks guys. I have a set of VS side skirts and rear lip sitting in the warehouse since January, hope to have them painted and installed before Extreme Autofest in Anaheim next month. Shits are SO low, about 4" clearance. Going to Japan again next month, gonna buy some of the aluminum shims this time so I can put the Axxis Deluxe pads back in.

Hmm, maybe I can post my teaser cell pics. Won a few trophies now, took 2nd place VIP at SpoCom most recently. Aero is finished, will be showing at Auto Crave in LBC at the end of the month, should be a fun show at the Queen Mary.

I put the full factory shims in the brakes and they don't make a peep any more, and seem to actually work better too.

I need to take real pics. Better yet, get another photographer to take good pics.

No, South Bay / LA. I'd say SD has the biggest concentration of VIP cars out of any US city though. Auto Fashion is down there and they have a big crew.

That would make sense. There are a couple of the VIP Qs that roll with us to different shows around SoCal

Believe me when I say, pics don't do it justice. At least my pics LOL. Here's a couple professionally shot pics for comparison. Pre body-kit obviously.
