It's pretty pathetic when you won't notice much a difference in your daily routine when they pull these lock downs.

Since the lockdown in march I have been to 1 outdoor patio in the summer, even then I felt uncomfortable

I only go out to home depot/can tire when I need something for a project etc, otherwise I'm a home body, do most my shopping on amazon etc

An interesting thought from another group, what has changed so much since sept when the cases started going up? When you think about it restrictions didn't really ease and over summer was looking good.

well school started in sept and kids are notorious for being asymptomatic so put 2 and 2 together..

I'm not saying it's the only cause but I know the school boards were really hush about some of the cases in the beginning as they didn't know what to do. Some scenarios I remember reading about like asymptomatic bus drivers driving from school to school and roaming principals working at different schools testing positive. Hopefully by now they have learnt their lessons but even the wording on when to kid your kid home from school was vague and they have changed it a few times.

The school kids is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about.

I've heard of a 3 of my friends whos kid's school had covid+ but it doesn't make the news. All the kids stay home, get tested and they go from there....

The lack of a real plan for the kids biting Ford in the ass and he won't talk about it.

lol this yes.

this handling of the pandemic at this point is a fucking joke. lockdown won't do shit. sorry but if you're catching this shit now at this point you really aren't paying attention and are pulling some stupid shit. (aside from obviously say an elderly person just hanging in an old folks home and idiot relatives or worker makes them sick. or of course a frontliner who has no choice by to to their best to avoid it but is face to face with it daily).

Just did some grocery shopping.
4pm-5pm

Surprisingly no lines at Fortinos or Costco.
But a huge line at LCBO.
Luckily I was picking up the online order.

I stopped by Costco last night around 7:00 to fill up a propane tank. I was surprised to see it wasn't an absolute zoo. Fortinos at 7:00 this morning was much busier than normal.

My wife bought 2 tickets for the light show at Angus Glen Golf Course. Because of covid they have to close despite there being zero human interaction, you sit in your car and drive through the light show.

We went right now and the line to get in was just over 2km, hundreds and hundreds of cars just sitting waiting. wtf

Had to break the news to the kids, so drove around random neighborhoods looking at their decorations. Defaulting to a peasant always saves the day.

Wife is finally freaking out a bit. Sister hospital is on outbreak #4 so they are getting all the covid positive or potentials. One of her co-workers tested positive recently too.

Went on Monday. It was a 45 minute wait and it took us about 20 minutes to go through. The line started at Elgin Mills when we got there at 6pm. My 2.5 year old was a little impressed but you could prob see the same stuff around the area.

Went last night at 10p. 15min line up. It was ok at best, but I only paid $20 so it’s all good. My 8 year old loved it, so that’s all that matters.

There is also a house on Markham South of hwy 7 on the West side that has a lot of lights. They take monetary donations for toy mountain.

I went just now (8:30 PM, Boxing day), they had lights in the front and back of their yard. Better than being in the car at Angus imho. It feels more Xmas when you are breathing in fresh air and not stuck in a car.

maybe that is partly the reason for the recent bump in cases lately. Who knows how long it has actually been here undetected as the virus is always mutating.

People (except my wife) are freaking out as the spikes are showing up 'locally' ish ...

Oakville area, 'outbreaks' declared at a Seniors Home, Halton Hills-area (community spread?), and a Shoppers Drug Mart, and a 'well-known' grocery store.

The breakdown of new cases today is as follows: Burlington, 33 new cases; Oakville, 36 new cases; Halton Hills, 2 and Milton, 16 new cases.

Delmanor Glen Abbey is also reporting three more resident cases.

There are currently 45 COVID-19 patients in hospital and 11 in ICU across the region.

South Africa apparently has this version very prominently ... so far, it's known to be 'easier to catch', but not necessarily deadlier ... Let's wait for Darwin evolution to take over....

COVID's gonna COVID, but where are we at with all the politicians going on beach vacations when everyone else is being told to lock-down/stay home?

I think the fatigue is most definitely setting in after almost a year and the lock-down rules just aren't resonating. If you were careful at the onset, you probably maintained your diligence regardless of how the rules were relaxed and tightened. The ones that like the daily guidance on how to live their life safely have probably tuned out all the suggestions/rules.

In the beginning, I would listen to the daily updates from local, provincial, and federal politicians. Now its all white-noise. I still wear my mask like I did from the start. Kids are not going back to school, probably for years. I've accepted that because I'm still out and about for work, that I'll be the sole grocery shopper and that the line-ups, higher prices, and wiping down groceries are just part of life.

Great news. I hope our resident CSi HCPs all get their shots ... 355, the handful that's working in the hospitals, etc.

Wife got an urgent email over the wkend that if they wanted a shot, they had to respond via email and be at work by 7am on Sat morning or something ...

So far, I've been too chicken shit to say much to anyone that's walking around WITHOUT a mask ...

I've given them the frozen stare or not moved at all, indicating something's up, etc... I've seen it most often between the parking levels to/in the elevators at my parents' condo in Markham ... But also have seen it at restaurant pick-ups.

In Markham everyone seems to be abiding, at least the places I frequent. Or are we talking about walking without a mask outside? I don't wear one walking around the neighbourhood pushing my kid in a stroller. GTFO

When I am downtown I will wear one even walking outside out of courtesy since almost everyone else is also, but that's the only exception.

My 2 instances above refer to enclosed/indoor areas:

a) underground parking/elevator area in a condo building (Markham)
b) Entrance/pick-up area for food in a restaurant (Burlington)
c) Different gas stations (inside the store)

I've had a few instances where at a park I'm the Asian, and only one masked ... yes, it's outdoors, but FFS, there's a bunch of kids running around, with parents congregating chatting with each other < 6ft. I just try my best to stay the fuck away from the kids/adults...

outside around my house I don't. People just know to walk on the street to be distanced if there is someone walking from the opposite direction.

I was at Main St Unionville and people weren't outdoors. I had it on because there was a lot of people around.

Indoors like you, most cases, people are doing it properly.

Any measurements they implement should have been done months ago.pretty ridiculous. Haven't really run into anyone without a mask on in Markham but I hardly go anywhere

Lets not mention how many families I saw coming and going on my street over the holidays. Nice gesture when you have to watch your parents open gifts through a Zoom calls while these other people feel superior and need to do it in person
