I opened it in photoshop and checked...it was leaning just a tad with some of it due to the distortion. I fixed it and re-uploaded it and now looks less like it is leaning.

so i'm thinking of selling the house, so i figured i'd try my hand at interior photography as it seems most real estate photography blows. hardest thing was getting the white balance as close to the same as possible. That and with a wide angle the verticals really play a mind fuck on if the picture is leaning one way or the other.

Mmmmmm too HDR-ish to my eye. Have you tried that 32-bit HDR technique yet?

Mmmmmm too HDR-ish to my eye. It looks like the shadows are increased and the highlights are decreased, giving it that grey-ish tint to it.

Turn the front wheels the other way. You want to be seeing as much of the face of the wheel as possible.

Interesting. Yeah it's def kinda grey. 3 shot HDR merged with photomatix post up the 0exposure file vs. the other 2...curious to see what you're working with.

Like the concept, but there is something in the HDR coloration that is killing it for me.
Can you open the 0 exposure file, decrease the shadows, decrease the highlights and increase the contrast a tad and get a better photo?

The center framing hurts this one. I see why, I think, picking up the rooster tail is generally good. Buuuut, the tree branches don't help, they hurt. You can carefully clone those out, but then you still have a centered composition. I would either frame it so that you see where he's going, or where he's come from. Either get in tighter or get out wider, but then maybe there's stuff outside the image I don't see that distracts from the scene as well. That may be the case, so maybe you need to move to position the buggy in a more aesthetically pleasing location while cropping out distractions. But maybe you can't, maybe there's a cliff next to you. Well, maybe that's just not a great location then. I don't know, just running through various scenarios. I like the downhill angle though, nice view of the buggy, good action!

easiest thing that i've started doing is looking for a good "kill zone" when taking pictures because you guys lit my ass on fire with the other pictures that i posted

LR-2971 by duc202, on Flickr
both were taken with the 70-200 f4 L IS USM

Duc, that first shot is completely out of focus.. If you're using AF, make sure you've got your focus point selected.. The camera focused on the bush to the left
If you know where you subject is going to be, manually selecting your focal point is the ticket!

Anything moving and he should be on AI Servo, and continuous shooting. I've shot motorcycles at 100+ mph this way. You get a lot of blurry shots as you pan, but chances are pretty good that in each burst sequence you'll get one or two tack sharp shots. It def takes some practice though.
One of my favorites. It's even cooler with a slow slow shutter speed.

It's possible too that since it is moving away from him his AF wasn't set fast enough to keep up with the movement... regardless of the cause, the shot is OOF. In Focus, it might be excellent.
While I'm here... I'll leave another shot. Unfortunately I thought I was high enough over the barrier, but I wasn't... I then got booted from the spot .
