meh i'm not keen on this file. i usually start out pretty heavy handed and it's happened again. i did a little work on another this morning before work that i like a lot more. still get the same tone but less compression of the color range.
the tire is actually filthy, and has grooves from a pair of fender skirts getting loose and cutting up the wall. they're yellowed too from sitting so long. the yellow gets saturation reduced to clean that up, but not much i can do about the grooves and the dirt/grinding dust in them. that's a lot of the texture you see there. side light is the big deal when it comes to texture though, but i think you'd see that anyways with flat lighting just because they're dirty. all i can suggest is to shoot with a histogram that's taking advantage of as much of the range as possible, and then you can move the black point and white point in post. doesn't look as nice in camera but leaves more to to work with later on.
this was with 5 lights. 2 gel'ed speedlights in the back, a main with a beauty dish above and just to camera right, and 2 strip lights on the sides 1 stop more powerful than the main.
this is the one from this morning. need to warm it up a bit. tucker the tummy a bit, so have to clean up the stickers on the tool chest in the background. burn the background a bit and take some of the brightness out of the speedlights.

Part of my planespotting project...  Really nice pic. I looked into doing one of these a while back at my local airport, but the number of departures is so few and far between that I couldn't make it work.
You can fake it a little bit by using the same plane twice. I didn't in this image, but since they typically follow the same landing pattern, I did have a lot of overlap so I nudged a few planes up/down to make it look more pleasing.

changing it up.. 5 shot pano shot with the 135 f/2L. 11,000 pixels wide and so glorious. you can see the people on the observation deck of the space needle

sad thing was... i did have one on there... haha, but the lady feeding the fish was working too quickly for me to adjust for a better shot, that was shot at around 2 pm with no shade so I think it worked? but some of those koi were hella nice... i wanted to steal some for some of you guys lol
