There is one just like that down the street. They turned it into antiques place in the 90's, then a bar where I was an extra in one of those lifetime movies.

I'll have to remember to get a better shot now that the leaves are gone.

Pretty sure it is unless Tampa has really taken a bad turn + installed gas hoses under the streets.

I didn't get out for a pic of the day, so here's one of the first photos I took with a DSLR last summer. Did the best I could with the jpg.

2 days, 26 hours total of minor hockey.



hands down THE best save of the 20 games I covered over 2 days. Wide open net, and the guy dove over, laid the paddle down and saved the day.




Shot this today. 5 hours of sleep, woke up at 5 to drive an hour thru dense fog to start shooting the first game. 3rd frame of the day, no crop, no burst. I knew it'd set the tone for the rest of the day. Probably one of my most efficient days behind the lens shooting sports.

It wasn't bad. 13 hours a day, the parts that sucked was getting up at 5 and driving through the shit fog on the last day. I have a target number of shots that I need to get to the printing tables setup and I'm usually outta there after the first period is done (10 min periods) After that I just fuck off and surf the net until the next game. So it's a shitloads of more waiting than it was shooting.

But yah, by the last two games, I was fried

yeah, 400 on a crop sensor (so essentially 600mm fov) is still too short for birds that don't like people. I wasted another day and about 15 gallons of gas today driving all over the area and getting fuck all for shots. Today I made it worse because the AF motor on the D300 is crap compared to the D700, so I lost even the crop factor.

*EDIT* Two days of zero keepers and reading the testimonial for it in Moose Peterson's new book = ordered a better beamer fresnel lens attachment for my flash. It's designed specifically to extend the reach of fill flash when used with long telephoto lenses.



$38.95 from B&H

Won't do shit for birds too far away, but I had a few frames that could have been salvaged had the bird not been lost in the shadows.

It's really nice, but doesn't seem as big as the Tennessee Aquarium. Either way, I live 30 minutes from the GA Aquarium and not much further to the TN.

I want to go back now that I know what focal lengths I'll need. I have 100's of pictures taken in .jpg from when I first got my camera, but none (ok, maybe a few) of them are what I'd call keepers these days.
