no. Tree was placed on a marble slab. I had some christmas lights surrounding the slab. There's a 1/4 cto'd sb80dx out of the frame placed behind the tree on the right for a bit of separation + silver reflector on the right of the tree for fill. Ideally I should have a light behind the camera just to add a touch of light to the top of the tree to balance shit out, but I didn't have that much room in the kitchen.
Background is also xmas lights.

got a new lens for my birthday today. 50mm 1.8
i'm using it on a D60, so i have to manual focus for now. maybe if i upgrade bodies in the future i won't have to, but for now it adds to the challenge.
1st shot with it.

There are a couple of ways to improve that. I'd recompose the shot so I had more features from the bike in focus. Try another mode than center-weighted average. Spot metering is all I use until I start shooting moving objects.
