typically a street car has to have a significant weight reduction to "feel" a difference...the general rule of thumb is for every 100lbs you take off you gain 1/10 of a second in 0-60mph(sometimes more or less)...if you TOTALLY strip the inside of your car of everything you dont need..carpet, sound deadner, backseat, front passenger seat, dash controls(such as heater, a/c controls, radio din. etc.....everthing but main dash and gauges), spare tire out of trunk, other intrerior moldings..you MIGHT pick up a second faster in 0-60mph(could be less or more depending on car)...but slimming down your car will help overall perfofmance

Depends on you and what your using the car for. If ur just a wknd racer IMO its not worth totally stripping the car like speedfreak mentioned. If your going all out race or even semi get rid of the stereo, seats and spare as those items are easily replaced
The best weight to remove is the unsprung weight...lighter wheels, tires! Get sticky UTA220 or lower for great grip! The car really can be thrown around with better grip. I'm keepin up with some stock Suby WRX & STI's on the tight AutoX courses.

Giving up yor whole interior definitely isnt worth it for a street car. I have my hatch apart right now. Pulled front & rear seats, carpet, seatbelts, headliner, door panels, rear plastic panels, inside of tail gate, rear washer motor, heater core, blower motor, SRS sensors, module & harness, sound deadening, spare, jack... Going to put the front seats & dash back in & call it a day.
and from the engine I deleted power steering lines & resivior, washer fluid resivior & lines, charcoal canister, and got a lighter battery. never had A/C also thinking about pulling the wiper motor and wipers, but i'd be screwed if I got caught in a storm.... as mentioned, Ligher wheels make a big difference, using the rims from a 96 HX @ 11.75 lb each.
that looks soo sick .. i want to do that to my car(rip apart the interior) but i live in an apartment so i got no where to store all of my shyte .. plus winter is coming and i need all the insulation i can get cause the heater isnt very hot.. but i liek what uve done there!

thanks, I threw everything in my mom's basement since I don't have one. she was like wtf is all this?? I plan on cleaning out the inside this winter, sanding it with some 400ish grip sand paper, and then paint it satin black in the spring. But I still have the guts in case I ever want to go back to rolling with the luxury of an interior.
edit: And winter is the ideal time to remove the sound deadening. I did it in Feb when it was 4° F out one night. it is frozen solid and chips out in chunks. The other way to do it is with a heat gun and scraper and that is a mess. If you live in the south and have warm winters, you can still do it using dry ice to freeze the deadening material. and use the left over dry ice and put it into 2 liter bottles with some water or cola and make some loud BOOMS

easy stuff to remove. rear seats, rear paneling, your floormats, all of the stuff in the trunk... keep ur spare if your daily driving, lighter (relocated) battery, wheels n tires, fiberglass seats, and a.c
all the stuff is pretty easy if you do the A/c use the helm's manual
