Yeah I took an "off-season" in Nov/Dec where I was skipped a week or two(surgery recovery) and then was doing 10-15/week for a bit.
This is more during training. Like many trainers advocate against something like 16-20 weeks with no breaks. Sort of like you don't run every mile at race pace, you shouldn't run every week at trainining intensity. A few easy weeks thrown in allow you to recharge and approach your training aggresively.
