I was about to say, if you shot that with a 40 you were in the danger zone. Nice.

That's way closer than I'd want to be to a moose that's for sure.

Silly DA lens, you don't cover 35mm...

Denali Park Road heading back to the visitor center

I trimmed a bit of the right side of the frame off to get the vignetting even.
When I had the film developed, I was honestly surprised this one even turned out. There's no way to control aperture on the 18-135mm WR lens when its on an old film body, so I was completely guessing. Lens was set at 18mm and mounted on my K1000 SE, shutter at 1/60, assume the lens fully stopped down(?), crappy 800 speed Fuji supermarket film.

Large quadrupeds always look better at standard to wide focal lengths - it's just so freaking dangerous to shoot that way. Good kill.

I would have had her stand behind the table and lean a little on it since this seems like an awkward pose.

That is true...she literally had just walked into frame and I snapped a pic to check exposure, but in the end, the goal was to showcase the facility and not her, which I failed at doing after taking 100 shots or so. The fact was, I didn't have enough/adequate lighting.

I have no idea why I was photographing a ballerina on a railroad bridge. Senior portraits are......weird.

It was a public bridge. The funniest part (now) was how many times I had to stop because some homeless guy holding a 40 wandered into my shot. Her and her mom said she really wanted to take some pics near railroad tracks, and we agreed on that location. She was dressed normally, and then she was like hey, I'm gonna go change in the van, and she comes out in a full tutu and starts busting moves. It was kinda surreal. And they were extremely religious and didn't respond well to all the catcalls from passing motorists. What do you expect if you stand on the side of the street in that outfit? We also did some shots in front of some graffiti, but her mom wasn't comfy there because she was afraid the pics would, and this is a quote "make it look like she had some kind of gang affiliation". It was all I could do not to laugh. I'm pretty sure the crips and the bloods would pick up on the fact that she's not affiliated.

This was excessive, most kids just want some nice portraits. This kid does beauty pageants, plays 4 or 5 instruments, does ballet and does a ton of charity work. I wonder how much she wants to do and how much she gets pushed into. I have no idea how she has time for all of it.

Was really trying to get the shot with all fours off the ground. This was the closest i got after 30 minutes of trying and a very tired dog.

5D Mark II is so slow...My buddy's 1D4 can fire off so many more shots per second...you'd have gotten one with all 4 off the ground in minutes.

Agreed. As much as I love my 5DMII, it's pretty useless for sports or action photography.

One of my daughters. I think so many white roses in the background may be a bit too distracting.

We don't have any wide open areas like that in the mountains here... At least not that I've found. Great shot.

My first new photo in quite some time. It wasn't the shot I was looking for - foiled by clouds low on the horizon at sunset - but it was fun shooting and editing something again. A couple weeks after I shot this I went up to the same ridge with my aunt to watch the sunset. We're both looking towards the west when I hear some rustling in the bushes. Figuring it's a rabbit I don't think much of it, but the rustling sound continues to get louder until I'm wondering "how and why in the hell is a dog climbing up a grade this steep? Surely their owner isn't coming up that way...". As I'm pondering the climbing capabilities of canines a huge dog comes leaping, literally leaping, out of the brush not 8' from me and my aunt. Only it's not a dog, it's a black bear cub!

I get out a low "ohhh shiiit" before grabbing my aunt and walking away. Once we were 100' away I got my courage back and started looking for the cub (and it's mother) but we never saw them again. Very cool stuff but it makes me glad this isn't grizzly country
