Ya the tent gives you reference. its more better. Awesome. And fwiw I'm open to any critiques or thoughts on improvement (now and on any future pictures). I was just psyched to see the possibility that I can somewhat compensate for my lack of fancy equipment (mine was shot with my new-to-me 5d mk1, the other with another person's mkii, same lens). I like knowing that what's holding me back is just my lack of skill and not my lack of equipment money lol. i do like your version better of the two. that said, i'm not crazy about either. i think it's the composition. just doesn't do anything for me and the tent is cut off. yours is also blurry on the left side. the moon is so small and out of focus it doesn't really add anything IMO. i would have done it in landscape orientation, still letting the moon light reflect off the top of the tent, but possibly getting the whole scene in the picture. that said, your exposure is better... getting some of the tent details along with the path leading up
Indeed. At the time I was really intent on getting the Moon in the shot and I was having trouble with landscape, if I had a wider angle I would've definitely done that. I didn't even notice the side being blurry like that... that seems odd, seems like the whole thing would be blurry or nothing right? Maybe my left hand wiggled a smidge more than my right?

what aperture were you shooting at? might just be blurry cause it fell out of the focal plane.
re-edited the Bryce pic i posted earlier to try and bring out the sky more. much happier with this version.

I'm with Spotch, any critique on my pictures good or bad is more than welcome.
I tried something I hadn't done before, I adjusted the saturation slider for Red to tone down that way too pink flower. I also re-cropped it to show more of the plant.

Someday I'll release a study of the tree in my backyard. I've got some images I really like of it. It's a great tree. Not too big, but it probably could use a good trim. When we first moved in it needed supports, now it's broken free from the stake and stands proud. In the spring it fills up with beautiful tiny blooms, delicate, tissue paper like pedals. Past fall, because So Cal, the leaves finally begin to turn, eventually leaving bare branches that light up in the moonlight, providing a cage for the moon to sit within. It's a good tree.

I happened to have my 40D and 70-200 F/4 IS in my car as I was driving home from the office. The sky was absolutely amazing! This was the only snap i could get of it at a red light.
This is SOOC (straight out of camera), no editing at all. Too much to clone out, but I just wanted to show how beautiful the sky looked tonight.
Bonus points if you know where this is at.

Thanks Salty.
Ty, what are you shooting with? The way that sun is flaring looks like an iPhone or like a GoPro...? I would start looking for a DSLR if you're enjoying shooting this much. You're gonna get worlds more adjustability and control, not to mention the improved image quality.
