I'm kind of digging this guy. Occasionally I gets my burn on in my garage with dumbells, a sandbag, and some bands when I don't have time to hit the gym.

Do you have an open ceiling in the basement?
My basement has an open ceiling so I just mounted a piece of 1" rigid pipe to the bottom of the floor joists. It works perfectly and you can go all the way up, your head goes in between the joists. Kind of ghetto but it works just as well as those $100 bars.
I don't know how big you are, but I picked up a pullup bar from Target. It's your typical telescoping bar, but it comes with metal end caps that have three screw holes in each one. You mount those on the door frame, put the pullup bar in on one side, and twist until it is nice and snug-fitting in the other cap. I think it's made to support 280 pounds or something....
i assume the iron gym is not wide enough for wide-grip pullups? cos my grip is definitely broader than any door frame in my place
Yeah, it's nice to have around the house but it pretty much sucks. At my old place I just bolted some wood to the exposed ceiling and drilled some holes and used my barbell.
