Squeezed out a 13.1 mile run tonight in 1:59:28. Next week is the OC Chili race. Then HB Half.
Be nice to run outdoors again!

I did a 4 mile race today. Ringling Bridge Run, pretty cool, about 1 mile to the bridge, 1 mile over the bridge, then back. My watch time was 29:08, which is damn fine by me! I was hoping for under 32 (8minute pace). So pretty happy with the results.
Here's my Garmin Connect page: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/431709198
On the way back on the bridge there was a really heavy headwind that sucked. And if you look at my pace you'll see I sprinted the end. My watch read the last mile at .99 so it isn't a complete mile but it was pace of 7:03, which is my fastest mile ever heh.

Last year I was doing so much longer running training for a marathon and 50k I didn't feel like I got great speed improvement times. Now I'm doing the Hal Higdon Half-Marathon Advanced and doing tempo and repeat runs. Definitely noticing a speed improvement!
Good luck with Boston by the way!
Also good luck to 2000 trying to beat his girlfriend's time for his first marathon. Though I've only done 1 and only 1 50k I'm going to go ahead and say a road marathon is a totally different beast than an ultra. But knowing you you'd knock it out without breaking a sweat. I still consider you guys the real runners and I'm just a young grasshopper. :P

Woohoo! Enjoy every ache and pain and miserable feeling run during your taper! I know I do! I had gum graft surgery on friday morning and was told I am not supposed to exercise for 3 days after. I was having a great week too. Oh well, I think a forced couple days off might do me some good. Cant wait to hit it hard again next week!
I always feel like I'm coming down with some terrible cold during taper weeks. I hate tapering. Boo.
Let's go on a 20 miler the Thursday before Leadville

Another confidence booster. Did 13.1 tonight in 1:31:17. 6:58 average pace and it felt easy. Less than a minute off my half mary PR! I hate you. New rule, if you're this ^ fast, no more pace comments....
Great job man.

Race 1 of the OC Chili Race Series done. Fun route but DAMN, the first two miles were a solid 900 ft incline.
Ended up running 10 miles @ ~94:00 with a late start. Goal is to do a sub-90 min time for at least one of the remaining races.

I'm thinking of joining a group if schedule allows. I feel like I'm starting to plateau from training solo. And I think I could use some feedback on my technique.
And just realized that ampsman's post makes my whining about 900 ft seem childish. Well done dude.

Oooh, I love my running group in the warmer months. Definitely join if you can find one that works! My group is maybe 15 people and we run trails every Wednesday night during the summer. Then afterwards we stand around the parking lot or trailhead drinking beer and bullshitting. It's so much fun.

Let me know if you want to join us any Saturday Kent. Seems like they mostly stick the Oneill, Whiting, El Moro, Aliso areas so it's in your neck of the woods. I can forward you the emails that have the location and route maps.

I do 99% my training solo, I could probably benefit from some group runs but for the most part I find myself getting annoyed when I run with other people. If you do join a running group make sure that there are better runners than yourself in the group, thats the best way to improve.

Running in the snow = awesome, feel like badass despite slow-pace running in the bitter cold with no snow = not awesome, snotty nose, frozen pecker(the worst part is realizing how cold you are there....)
50 for the year, starting to get it back. That said, I half got my ass handed to me by 8 on Sunday. Wtf. I felt fine afterwards, but by the end I was done.

Definitely interested Chris. Checking with the family to see if we can make the schedule work.
On a side note, the Disneyland Half Marathon opened for registration today. Their coveted 10K/Half Marathon combo sold out within 41 minutes. At a whopping $320 a pop. Crazy people!!

Man that's expensive for juat a 10k/half!
I'm signed up for Gasparilla next month in Tampa, and I signed up for all 4 races (5k, 8k, 15k and half) for about $225.
I skipped a couple runs this month, partially due to attending a funeral and need to get back on it. My 3 mile run yesterday I felt good but was doing an 8 min pace, felt like I should have been at 7:30 with how hard it felt. Here's to going for 100 miles next month! I will be in the upper 80s this month.

I'm happy you mentioned this. That Facebook friend I've mentioned before appears to be absolutely nuts about Disney races (she was the one stopping for photos and to ride rides during her marathon haha) and she just posted this today: I'm so happy I'm in tears! I've just made the registration cut off for the Dumbo Double Dare in Disneyland! I will be in the most magical place on earth taking on a 10k on my birthday. Not to mention that I will add another 6 checks to my bucket list just by making this trek! I'm beyond elated!
As a side note, stay tuned for a massive yard sale announcement! Hey, I've gotta figure out how to afford it somehow, right?
I'm beyond excited! Making it to California and putting my toes in the Pacific was one of the first items on the list. Then when I started doing runDisney races, earning the Coast to Coast medal became one. The four other checks are just icing on the cake
So, are there like a million mini-challenges for Disney races that people do for medals? Dumbo Double Dare? Coast to Coast Medal?
$320 to run a 10K and a half marathon? That's $16.58 a mile!

This is coming from someone who used to work there lol. 10K is neat though. Almost all on property, lots of photo ops, and early entry into the part when you're done. Just CRAZY crowded.
We got our kids registered for the mini-races on Saturday. 20 bucks for a brief run, medal, shirt, and some character photos. Will be extremely crowded but fun.

That was my logic lol. I could sign up myself and kids for at least two other events when the weather is more reasonable, and still have money left over for brunch.
