I'm running every day. My rest days are an easy 5 or 6 miles. My body has adapted well. I'm feeling healthy and strong. Some minor aches and pains, but nothing that affects my running.

As for finding the time: I was up at 4am on Saturday to get up to the trailhead early so I could be done and home by 11 for family activities. Otherwise I'm running at night or whenever I can squeeze it in. All my other hobbies have been put on hold.

Man that's impressive. I know the elites are doing 80-100+ mile weeks training for their A races, but it still seems insane. I do a 100 mile month and think that's a lot, haha.

I might sign up for another ultra in the future which will require that type of running, just haven't decided yet. I like running the road more than trails, which makes me a backwards runner I guess, lol. So I might look into a road ultra, such as the Keys 50/100 here in FL.

Anyway, good for you on keeping the running priority one. Can't wait to hear everything about Leadville! You guys got crew/pacers and everything? If you guys just stay together I guess you're just each other's pacer, lol.

went jogging BEFORE I went surfing sunday [only because the waves were miserable and expected to improve as the tide dropped] did better than I expected [this is my new distance PR lol cry], my first ever 15+ mile run week too heh, I will try to do that this week as well

the waves after were better and I was a little scared I'd cramp up but the cold water was AWESOME and I was able to catch anything I wanted. good times. I'd recommend a nice dip in the pacific after a jog to anybody

anyways this was supposed to be a long/easy run but I probably went a little too fast still I felt good/comfortable/HR was around 120.
I'm sorta thinking I'm probably already capable of a 1/2 marathon at this pace but who knows, so perhaps I'll go for the 'stretch' part of my 1/2 marathon goal instead [say closer to 8:00 pace than 9:00], of course my knee might blow up again and I guess thats ok too

That's a great pace. I like doing my runs around 9min miles, that feels semi slow at times for me though. I think if you're doing that pace for 8.7 miles you'll be great for a half at 1:50 or less.

I raced my first tri of the season over the weekend. It was a 45 miler .6mi swim 38mi bike and 6.55 run.

I finished 2nd in my age group and 4th overall. I was 6th out of the water at 19:09 moved up to 4th on the bike 1:25 and dropped to 4th on the run with a 51:54.

I was all over the place swimming, I couldn't sight for anything, the bike was average and by the time the run came it was hot with no shade and my legs were toast.

LOL yeah it's starting to pay off. Now if I can be as quick as he is that would be great. He just did Ironman Brasil and finished 6th overall with an 8:34

Fell a lite short of my 75 mile week goal and only hit 70. Kinda figured it would happen since it's the first week of summer vacation for the kiddos. Probably good to ease back a tad too.

I did have a beast off a mountain run on Saturday though:

I use the term "run" loosely. \:D I mean, I ran the 11 miles after that, but that trail up is pretty much relentless, so it's just a matter of putting your head down and getting up it any way you can. \:D

Yeah, I suppose so. Reminds me of the last time I did camp muir, also around 10k. 30 minute miles are blisteringly fast at that height and while climbing.
I don't think I was doing 2k of vert an hour though.

Of course, I got to glissade down. SO there's that...

You are definitely faster than me now with your "jogging". My best half marathon was right at 2:00 and I could not do that now. And I haven't been running enough. But now that I am on the unemployed wife starvation diet plan, it will be my goal to get back in front of you. ;\)

Good work!

Not that fast, but by my next run, I'll be over 33 miles for this week. Easily the most run miles I've done in a week (bike is in the shop).

Warm, humid 4.3 miles today. I ran with a Camelbak today and I'm glad I did. I guess I'll wear it for my 7/3 10k.

How many aid stations does it have?

I don't want to tell you to get dehydrated, but camelback on a 10k seems like overkill.

Nice!
I'm at 5 runs and 32 miles for this week so far. With some of the kids in day camp, I can squeeze in 2 shorter runs easier than one longer. Hoping to hit 75 again by Sunday.

that is awesome. I'm still quietly suffering/crying from my 11 mile jog on sunday. I'm just not the same person anymore , I couldn't bike commute on Monday. Swim practice Monday I was slow as f*ck, Tuesday I bike commuted and managed to be fast [for me, 17mph into the wind and 17.8 with it, net moving avg including all traffic impediments], and today is Wednesday and I want to skip swim practice again and I didn't even bike commute

I'm horribly broken

I'm definitely suffering.

12.5k Sat, then squats and deadlifts on Sun followed by light kayaking and then tennis with the wife. Another 12k Monday with Frankenstein legs and 10.5 this morning.

If I didn't do weights, shit would be far more enjoyable. Plus, waking up at 5AM to run is tough. Squats ruin cardio and I'm sore for 3-4 days after.

Yeah, I'm slacking today. I rode in on the bike, but skipped lunch run(or weights).

I need to get over my 12 measely miles a week hump. I'm quick(for me), but I'm not putting near enough miles in right now. I think I need to sign up for a race.

My weight training is a once a week thing these days too, sad.

CN: We all need to sack the fuck up.

When you have weeks around this mileage, how many hard vs easy/recovery runs do you typically do?

I kinda realized last week I was doing pretty much all my runs at a med-hard or hard pace, which always seemed to limit me to around 25 miles per week (anything more and it'd be nonstop knee/joint pain). I'm trying alternating easy runs this week and seeing if it helps.

Well, this is all buildup to Leadville, so everything is at what I feel like is a sustainable pace. Some nights on the the roads it might be 7:30 pace, on the trail it could be a 15:00 average. My speed has definitely gone down the crapper ever since my BQ back in February though. That's the trade off though...just trying to get the body ready to handle 100 miles in one shot.

I'll switch to a marathon specific plan with the standard tempo, speedwork, LSR etc after the North Face 50 miler in December. My goal (if I get in to Boston) will be to go sub 3:05.

No clue how many. I'll put a bike water bottle's worth in it. It's going to be a pretty big 10k (finishes at the 50 yard line of Gillette Stadium) so I figure there will be an easy 2000 runners. If I have my own water, I can sip when I want and I won't have to wait at a station.

I don't bring water on 10k's unless record breaking temps, but when I run stairs, I just throw a bottle of 50/50% water/gatorade in my pocket and drink it all by half way.

I'd think it would be easier to buy some sort of belt with those small bottle and just toss them as you run - though if they have stations, I'd just stop at those and carry nothing.

After hating it for many many years.... I have started running. 2 miles a day, one before working out and another one after. It sure makes leg day a bitch lol.

Slowly getting down to the 6 min/mile mark. It may be another month or so.
