Post up some shoulder routines, nothing I do seems to deliver any kind of soreness. They seem to be developing well, but I feel like I'm not hitting them hard enough.

lift heavy stuff over head, repeat

but srsly if you're trying to get stronger do the Rippetoe Starting Strength program: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/The_Starting_Strength_Novice/Beginner_Programs

standing there doing 3x10 of a dozen different movements for 1 muscle group is a waste of time

Soreness is not a good indicator of whether your workout was effective or not.

Really, all you need to do for shoulders is Military Press, and maybe some front barbell raises. Switch it up between DBs and Barbell on the military press each week.

2nded. Rippetoe has some nice descriptions on how to get good Press form.

Standing barbell presses also have the benefit of helping develop other things, like core strength & balance.

We disagree. Whay wouldn't you do DB or cables for the mid and rear delt??

You work the majority of the shoulder muscles in the military press. For those particular muscles you are referencing, they are worked in the pull-up. This is especially true if you are leaning back, pulling your chest to the bar, simulating an inverse row/rear delt row.

I mean, you CAN do a ton of exercises, but I'm not a huge fan of trying to isolate every single little muscle. Compound exercises will hit them all, anyway.

The simplest workouts are often the best.

Here's my current shoulder routine:

1) Seated dumbbell presses
2) upward rows (using EZ curl bar)
3) Side lateral raises
4) Reverse flies (on Pec-Dec machine)

3 sets (increasing weight) of 12 reps

developing well, but no soreness...?

who cares about soreness... isn't a surefire indicator of growth... if you're seeing results you're good...

To be honest you really just have to experiment with lifts and reps to find out what your body responds too, buuuut here's my shoulder routine and it's worked wonders for me.

Overhead presses with dumbbells 3 sets to failure
Side raises with dumbbells 3 sets to failure
Front raises with dumbbells 3 sets to failure

On each of these, I do one arm at a time which allows me to use heavier weights.

Very simple and short, but works great

i don't like the side/front raises, and there's probably absolutely no reason to do them anyway. it's just using leverage to increase the difficulty but at the same time puts strain on your shoulders with an unnatural movement (just like the leg extension machine which is complete garbage)

maybe if all you had was 20# dumbbells and you wanted the strongest shoulders possible, you'd have no choice but to use some leverage. if you're already doing heavy presses and other compound movements i see no reason to do these.

Well I've done them for about 7 years now and I've seen awesome results from them as well as strength. They're also a staple in almost all professional Body builders shoulder routines. I go up to 45's or 50's on my last set too......so I'd recommend them. And what do you mean by unnatural movements? Front and side raises are pretty natural movements to me.
