Guys, my '99 Si has been stolen 4 times, had 3 attempts, and the spoiler stolen. I'm finally sick of dealing with it and am going to sell it \:\( The upside is now I can look at a brand new '08 Si which has all of the upgrades I wished for in my old one (6spd, lsd, ABS).

My question - are they still a serious theft magnet??? I don't want to buy another problem car!

No it's not happening like the 99-00 Si's. But it's still a target for interior, spoiler, and rims. The ECU lockout makes it hard to simply break in and steal. Get a set of wheel locks and call it a day.

With the engine immobilizer and advancements in entire vehicle theft it makes it a lot harder to steal. Sure, I think the car is still somewhat of a target, but its not like a 99-00 Si or Integra where I wouldn't leave it parked on a street or outside of a garage overnight.

It's never guaranteed but they're a pretty big deterrent. There's no substitute for good insurance.

I don't get it. Even with all the new security feature in the SI, I am still paying 100+ a month to insure my car .. and I am over 25 ... My friend with a 2007 BMW 3 is paying 65 a month...

Theft is a very small portion of your premium.

I'm 25 with an 08si and I pay 85 a month. Change your insurance around, up your premium to 1,000.00.
