Pic of swirls before polish at bottom. Recently I ordered a PC 7424 with a bunch of pads, P21S, Sonus, Klasse and towels. After having read many many threads on Autopia and watching numerous 'how to' videos for the PC on youtube, I decided to get to work on my mothers FJ Cruiser, to try out my new stuff. It had never seen wax and was washed very sparingly. Degrease- check. 2 bucket wash- check. claybar- check. wash again- check. At this point I get out the PC and as seeing the paint had swirls (but not major swirls to my mind) I opened up the Sonus SFX-2 that I had ordered and started to mimic the youtube instructions. Using an oragne CCS pad I spread it, worked it, broke it down and removed it. Even though the finish was indeed 'glossier' and smoother, swirls still remained. So I repeated the process and it did not improve. Disgruntled, I threw a quick coat of wax on the FJ and called it a day. Earlier today I decided to detail my car. P21S total auto wash, P21S wheel gel, 2 bucket wash, Sonus green clay, wash again. My car is a 2007 Nissan with slightly moderate swirls (less than the FJ had) so I figured I'm in good shape to use the SFX-2. After applying it the swirls are still evident (although reduced). Again I repeat the process but it does not help. What REALLY didn't help was the fact that it was about to storm at this point and I panicked and threw some Klasse AIO on for a temporary protectant. So here I am, debating whether or not I need the SFX-1 (paint isn't oxidized or old) and if I do need a more aggressive polish, can I use it even though I just put the Klasse on? 2000CheetahStud 2000CheetahStud Post Master Supreme Registered: 02/10/03 Posts: 50921 Loc: Cincinnati, OH	You can always use a polish over a sealant, it will just take it off. Im not familiar with the Sonus brand of things, but you do know that using a harsh polish and a rough pad actually causes swirls (microswirling) which needs to be removed by using a less harsh combo. Think of it as sanding a piece of wood. You dont start with 100 grit and then be done with it for a smooth finish. You have to work your way to 1000+ grit for it to be wicked smooth, and the same applies to polishing, you have to work your way down. -Matt _________________________ 2016 4Runner Trail Edition \| 2000 Honda S2000

Bragg	Good point about working up to a finer polish, however the SFX-2 is equivalent to Poorboys SSR1, so I don't think it's leaving anything behind. As for the SFX-3, that is non abrasive and you can't use that with Klasse AIO, which I plan on using. I'm thinking hitting it with SFX-2 on an orange pad, then going over it again with SFX-2 using a white pad. Then apply the Klasse AIO (which is a micro polish) with white. Meh, what a pain. _________________________

Honestly I'd try poorboys SSR2.5 and SSR1 (orange pad for 2.5 and white pad for 1) and see if you get better results. _________________________

I just tried SFX-2 with orange, then again with white and I still have some swirls and whatnot. Ugh, I've spent so much fucking money lately, I think I'm just going to finish up the SFX-2 on the rest of the car, then get some Klasse on it till I have some extra dough to buy the Poorboys. On a side note, my paint has a shitton of little tiny circles all over the place. Really small, but when viewed in light you can see them, along with the leftover swirls. _________________________
