I'm home already - shredded tire. I'm suspecting I fell victim to the dreaded steel ring of the sidewall being blown out on my Kumho ASX's.
Luckily I found a dirt cheap place to get a used tire that got me home, and it happened on the freeway.
Did anyone see my tire go? Kinda curious if they witnessed it.
Got to love CHP though. I put in my spare myself on the side of the highway, wasn't about to drive on the rim more than I had because it wasn't damaged (got lucky, the tire mostly protected it). CHP pulls up when I wasn't looking, as I had gotten in my car in the passenger side and hopped over to the driver side, they knocked on my back window. The lady seriously accused me of pulling over to go to the bathroom, and "you know that's illegal, couldn't you wait?" I looked at her dumbfounded at first. Told her that wasn't why I had pulled over, I had just got done changing a shredded tire, pointed to the doughnut on her passenger side, showed her my hands, and told her I'd be happy to pop the trunk for her to check out the rim.
She looks at the back tire and says "that's ok, I believe you" (yeah, thanks!) and asks if the tread on the side of the road is what caused my flat. In disbelief, I told her that was what was left of my tire. She assertively told me that in the future, if I needed their help I could use the call box about 1/4 mile down the road or use my cell phone. I said thanks, but I was thinking "what the fuck for, so you can give me shit while I'm changing the tire instead of while I'm comfortably in the car?". She asked if there was anything else she could "help me with". I said no thanks, started my car up as she backed up, and drove off.
I've been hassled about some stuff in the past, but assuming I'm taking a piss on the side of the road with no evidence? What the fuck.

Lol at the CHP. Sorry you missed out. We're all hanging at Carl's Jr in Santa Barbara talking about highlights.
Fast and furious drifting, Ricky's adventure at the Shell station, the rednecks with the shotgun, me obliterating a bird at 70, Nick almost hitting a flock of turkeys, and a 20 mile escort with the CHP. I'll let everyone else explain the details.

Just got back.  Wanted to thank everyone for coming out and making this one of the BEST RUNS EVAR. Special thanks to the Nor Cal group for making it down despite the last minute flakers. I'll need about 6 weeks to get the vid up. 
I hope you got the bird on camera! Did it fuck up the car at all?
I was running the chasecam but I don't think it picked up anything. Car's fine, but I feel bad for 'Butchazjays' who was behind me. He got a car full of feathers.
