I'm doing my homework. I can only afford either a 2006 Civic Si Coupe or 2007 with preferably low miles, like 30k to 55k. From what I've gleaned, the 2007 Civic Si's had problems with the rear control arms which was causing cupping on the tires after about 10,000 miles. Are there any known wide spread problems with the 2006 model?

I'm looking at a red '06 Si Coupe for $13,888 with 42,000 miles on it. I have not seen it so I have no idea how many scrapes it has or how good/bad it's condition. Is this a good price if it's in very good condition? I'm expecting to see at least one accident on the carfax because from what I can tell, the KBB value is closer to $18K for this low miles.

The early models had issues with 3rd gear synchros due to insufficient lubrication. Honda has a TSB on it and increased the viscosity of their gear oil. Definitely test drive the car and shift the gears often.

I've got a 06 Si and the only issues I have with mine is the 3rd gear being hard to get in sometimes, Especially when its cold and on rare occasions it would hesitate a bit going into 2nd gear WOT.

I have 75,000 on mine and this Spring I will be changing the Trans Fluid.

Oh, besides the two things I mentioned the Si's are pretty much bulletproof reliable.

I can't count how many times I've gone into Redline.

The 3rd gear grind is the most prevalent problem, but Honda issued a TSB like Design already said.

I have an '07 with 32k on it and no cupping issues. I had the 3rd gear grind but just recently replaced the shifter cable and that seems to have done the trick.

Both the fabric and plastic in the interior shows wear pretty quickly. Luckily the fabric can be easily/cheaply fixed with new pieces.

Test drive it, especially when it's cold or been sitting overnight.

That seems like a decent price. I'm too lazy to research prices more, so make an offer that you're comfortable with. Let us know how it all turns out, good luck!
