Is it unheard of that a clutch for a 2006 Civic Si goes out at 49,900 miles? It happened to me this past Saturday morning. \:\(

Depends how it's driven. At least one magazine burned through the Si clutch during their initial review.

definitely it depends on how you drove it. if you abused the car and raced a lot, then something like that is very common. Now, my question to you is did you feel the clutch slipping or did a mechanic tell you that?

If a mechanic told you that don't believe them. with my 07 si, i've had a delearship mechanic tell me my clutch was going out at 30k miles. i've barely abused the car and i was thinking to myself... what the heck is he smoking on. He made me sign these papers that they were not liable for the clutch if it started slipping once i got the car.. i agreed and here i am at 75k miles and it hasn't slipped on me once..

Because of the economy many mechanics will try and rip you off whether it is from a dealership or not.

Basically, if it wasn't the second option you can totally disregard what ive said and pretend that i never wrote any of this..

Whats the going rate for a clutch replacement on the Si's

I'm at 73000 miles (mostly highway) but I expect it to last until around 100K

It's your technique. Learn how to drive a stick better (no offence intended, as I also had trouble when I started out. There were some bad habits I had to correct).
