i of course am another of many that are looking at getting one.

brand new these things are around 33-34k right? why are they so cheap now? you put 40-70k on the clock and there worth less than half that.

My guess is the lack of practicality. Come spring everyone wants a drop top sports car. Then by the time december rolls around the thrill has started to wear off and people get tired of driving a sports car all the time. Obviously not everyone is like that, but enough people are that it hurts the resale. I don't even know how many 1-2 year old s2k's i've seen for sale with less than 10k miles on them. crazy turnover yo.

That's my guess.

40-70k miles is a lot of miles for this car. Most of them are reserved as weekend toys and they don't get driven in the rain, so there are plenty out there with very low mileage. Anyone in the market for a used s2k has his choice of low, low mileage examples. Why buy some high mileage commuter when you can pick up a garage queen for another couple grand?

lies all lies...needs more KW's

I think there are just WAY TOO many for sale right now. Any model year car from 03 to 05 pretty much will sell for the same price minus what the owner thinks his car is worth.

Also, the practical folks realize they need to drop the price in order to get rid of them. That doesn't mean an 03 with 30K is worth 25K either.

Someone stole the S2000 I was gonna get before I even got a crack at it. The guy sold an 02' with 37K miles for $16k :-( I'm still in the market but will probably hold of till the end of the year. I guess it doesn't matter in San Diego since we pretty much always have droptop weather.

I just picked up my 2000 with 18k miles for 16,000. Not bad, and I love it.

I'm in the market for one if I can convince the wife. \:D As said earlier, prices tend to drop between November and February. And for 16K you can score a decent low milage 02-03.
