Does anyone know if you have to make a purchase from home depot so you can rent one of their trucks? If so, how much do you have to spend?

i rented one years ago. You have to purchase something, i purchased a few 2 by 4 and they allowed me to rent the truck for 2 hours for $19 + taxes.

If OP is planning to rent it more than 2 hours, you can forget about it. Go to Enterprise/Discount/Budget/Hertz for a longer rental.

If you are buying something from the store to transport it home, it will work fine given the 2 hours maximum time frame.

as fob said you have to purchase something. i purchased one long ass 2 x4 once.
and then got the truck(to do some other things *cough*). obviously need a cc for the hold too. standard truck/car rental procedure.

i swear it used to be 4 hours when i did this. if they reduced it to two hours that sucks.

Pull a Vas. Rent the truck, move a Civic hatch, using the 2x4s as a ramp, then return the truck, AND the 2x4s

I rented a truck from Rona years ago to help move my then-girlfriend in with me. No purchase required and we had it at least 4 hours. Things may have changed since then (2006).

Yes you need to buy something, and it's $19 for 1.5 hours. $7 for an extra 15 mins ($28/hour).

For the downtowners, ZipCar has a Toyota Tacoma pickup, and a Honda Element to rent for a couple hrs if you need to pick something up from Ikea, etc.

(I rented the POS Element for 3 hrs to pickup 2 mattresses from Costco about a year back.)

I rented a van (needed to return a TV to costco) from HD but I was nice to the guy and he let me have it without buying anything. Also brought it back after 3 1/2 hrs and still let it slide. Guess it depends on the person you talk to.

I just rented a 12' ladder. $25 bucks with a $50 deposit. It got me thinking though. $50 deposit for a $300 brand new ladder. I need one so I should have just kept it lol.

I cannot believe what some of you guys go through to move shit, for this reason I will always own a truck, even if it is a pile of shit second vehicle. I cannot imagine having to go through all that bullshit to move a tv/matress/whatever.

BRILLIANT!

I love the truck rental for the lone PVC pipe. Nobody at HD went "WTF?" ?

^ it's pretty common.

You can also rent it without buying anything...at least the one near my house allows it.

A memo went out in the fall saying that purchases aren't required because rental revenue was dropping, but they expected it to increase in the spring and to expect another memo. I read it while getting the truck a few months back.
