looking for a pad and rotor combo that has worked for someone. 00 Si that sees daily street, with occasianal SCCA solo.
Looking for: 1. slightly better performance/quality than stock 2. ~$200 for the front set of rotors and pads 3. longevity
I do not want pads that are gonna gouge my rotors and render them useless in a year, don't care how good they stop. I don't want warped rotors in a couple years either. I want to go through 1 or almost 2 set of pads before I deal with having to replace rotors again. Need a combo that works. do not want to have incompatible pads / rotors.
Honda OEM would be an option, but they are not the best either. honda rotors of this vintage seam to warp early too.
companies I am considering so far for rotors (slotted): ATE Brembo Powerslot
pads: ATE Premium One (ceramic) Hawk Perf (Ceramic)
please only speak on experience. no he-said-she-said or i-read-sport-compact comments. Please do not echo some comment from a forum, as most forums are about 95% BS'ers anyhow.
Hoping the track guys can help me out with this.

Less fade during aggressive street driving.
You must be doing some seriously aggressive street driving. I've done some pretty steep grade canyons with mine and no brake fade.

i had this set up for a while and proved to do very well for the average daily / autox car
*Rotora Slotted rotors *Axxis ulimates(front) *Autozone blanks and duralast pads(rear only) *Motul RBF600 fluid
now you wont need fluid that expensive and blanks all the way around would be fine. i have now upgraded to hawk HPS+ pads all the way around due to more track time/autox time. there awesome if you dont mind the dust and the noise from the pad(its like a dump truck at times)

i always ran brembo oe rotors and akekbono ceramic pads.
you don't need more than that for street.

EM1 Brembo blanks HP + pads Honda fluid bled monthly My Experiences: please excuse the long post My car is used exclusively for autcross. I still drive it to events, and on nice days, but it's my toy rather than a daily. I've had this setup for ~7k miles, and the pads are more than 90% left, the rotors like new. I will warn the pads dust horribly, and do have some vibrations, however once they're hot they grab well. They have taken me to a Solo II HS championship in my local club, and they still work well on the street. For strickly street I would recommend the HPS, I've used those and they are very nice, I've never really left their effective range on the street, and they are light on the dust, but they don't match the + stopping power. I would use no other than brembo blank rotors, you can even get them at NAPA. If your local napa says they can't, pm me and I'll get you the part numbers, I managed a napa for a few years. Honda fluid is great for street and solo, only if you use your car for track days and don't flush the fluid regularly would I suggest anything else (motul recommended there, or ate super blue). Power Slot rotors (front & rear) Hawk HPS pads Honda fluid Just remember, your brakes don't mean shit if your tires suck.
That's very true-tires stop your car, not brakes. I run 205/50/15 azenis rt-615s, and I fight lockup regularly on the course. On a side note though-the response of the pads make it easier to modulate, thus keeping the tires at maximum effectiveness. R-comps make the car stop like a lotus. Also find out what class you want to run. Braided lines or any slotted/drilled or different weight/material of rotor will take you out of stock class and into sts. You can use any pads/fluid though.

i used to use the HPS, but will never use again... i went axxis ultimates, and never looked back... even though they dust like hell.. but so did the HPS... jsut a notch less.

On my 00 Civic Si for STS SCCA Class I ran the following:
00-03 Brembo blanks AEM pads Goodrich Stainless steel lines Valvoline Synpower Brake Fluid
When I did a track day at VIR I had serious brake fade on my final class room session. Which was expected with AEM pads and Brembo blanks. The air bleed itself out on the way home though.
04-06 - I was sponsored by Rotora and got all this free. Rotora Brake slotted rotors Axxis Ultimate pads
I was mildly surprised on the rotor and pad combination when I picked up sponsorship from Rotora. Did some lapping days with no problems of fade.

Axxis Ultimate Brembo Rotor Drilled (front/rear) Honda Fluid Stock Brake line
Now, I'm trying to change with: EBC Yellow (my friend use it and its damn good!) Motul (Is it gonna make big different?) Goodridge Brake Line Kit (I donno if this works good or just wasting my money)
