I got a good deal on some Enkei RP-01's last year. Stock 17x7, 45mm offset. They are around 15lbs. Picked them up for $100 each. The deal we got went away rather quickly though!
Many people run the Kosei K1 in the 17x7 40mm offset. They are lighter than my Enkei's by about a pound, but also cost twice the price of the Enkei's (when I bought them).
You can run any offset between 40-50mm though. If 45mm+, get a spacer to widen the track would be suggested.
For tires, I ran 245/45-17 Kumho V710's. I had very minor rubbing issues when using those tires and the 45mm offset wheel. On full-lock, I had a little bit of the inner fender well lining rub off. Very minor though. I also popped out a few fender liner clips due to the tall tire. There was no strut contact though.
I am likely going to run Hoosiers next year though. Either a 245/40-17 or maybe even the narrower 225/45-17. I will likely test both.
I don't think 245/45-17 is the way to go. Mike (who will likely chime in shortly) ran the 245/45-17 Falken 615 on his Si in our local street tire class. I often was even with him or beating him with the stock 215/45-17 summer tires when I ran street tire with him. Obviously, they have a lot less grip. I think the wider 245 street tires have trouble heating up and really effect the gearing too much.
I am going to run 225/45-17 RE-01R's or RT-615's next year for street tires.

Yes, reducing offset widens the track. I never ran spacers this year. I bought some cheapies off of ebay in case I had rubbing issues, but I never used them since the rubbing I had was so minor.
PS-10 inches of snow here so far!

I would also suggest Kosei K1's. Nice and light.
615's aren't bad. I auto-x'ed on them last season (in my ITR). Great tire to have without going to R comps.
Samkarp -- How did you fare against Mini's? They were doing pretty well in my local events.

The Kosei TS you guys mean right? The Kosei K1s are like 17lbs whereas the TS are 16 (if memory serves me right).
I'm waiting for someone to show up with a 2007 Si. I would like to give it a whirl Considering I've autocrossed every Honda brand so far S2000, TSX, Accord, Preludes, Civics, CRX, RSX, and Odyssey

I just picked up 17x7 Enkei OR52s (18 lbs) at Edge Racing for $89 per wheel. It has a 38mm offset, so I am a little worried about the offset with 225/45/17 Azenis Rt-615s. I was also thinking of the Avons, but I wanted to get the tires mounted already and Tire Rack is really expensive for any brand name lightweight wheels. Oh well, maybe next year for the R-comps. At least I can still run GS when I go to SCCA this year.
MotorsportsNE is running their first event (Test and Tune) this Sunday at Giants Stadium. I am hoping I get the wheels in time.
Does anybody know where to get the best prices on the crash bolts? Where did the OP get them?

38mm will bump you out of GS. You're allowed 1/4" (6mm), stock is 45.
Well that sucks. I have to run in STX or ESP over 0.65 mm of wheel offset. Go figure.

Or you can have a good machine shop take 2mm off of each wheel center. Its been done before, but make sure you take it to a good place!
Or just don't tell anyone!

Just let someone win every now and then and you should be fine. Don't ask, Don't tell.
LOL, That won't be a big problem. I am typically very generous in this area.

Does anyone have experience running the Hoosier A6 245/40-17 on a 7 inch wheel? The spec sheet lists a minimum wheel size of 8". I am thinking of running them on the front of my '06 Si in GS. Thanks Lou Waddell NERSCCA gs 120

I am currently running the R6 in 225/45/17. These tires are already a little snug. I can't imagine that you could shoehorn a 245/40/17 on there.

245/40-17 fit on the car and wheel no problem. As long as your tire "guy" has a proper machine, there are no issues at all.

Thanks for the info. I'll be mounting them today. Hopefully we'll see some fast Mini's at the Devens tour in 3 weeks to see where we stand.
