He probably means flat back so you have less frontal area for drag I.e. More aero. Yea no flappy clothes.

You're way overthinking it, just ride what you got

I refer to "overthinking it" as pulling a stickaz

Mostly I'm just killing time because I have a century weekend after next. So any racing will wait till the week after. (they do 2x week races at track 3 miles from my house).

body position [aero tuck/position] is literally everything. most of that is actually flexibility

vs

eg the older guy is much higher/less aero, even on aerobars [I know them feels]
but probably, thats the best compromise between aero position and power output for his flexibility

I'm not sure tuck matters much if you're wearing glorified train runners and flappy clothes and look like sasquatch

I'm glad it's worked so well, I found out that taking a leap tends to work well (moved without jobs, got jobs easily).

I may have made some fitness improvements, dunno

held 300w+ easily in sustained climbs just now, took it easy elsewhere. Averaged 250w for 48m, grabbed the green jersey 2x, and was pretty competitive on the climbs \:o

got the green jersey [then had it stolen!] and got it back the next lap \:D

starting to feel pretty good out here in the CO altitude. did my first training crit tonight and current US Road National Champion Greg Daniel was there. I averaged 27.5mph for an hour and did a lap of the 2.2mi course at 29.9mph. sat 3rd wheel on 2 attacks by greg, although they were relatively short. Got a set of Zipp 404's off of Craigslist with new tires, tubes, skewers and Dura Ace cassette for 550! WHAT! Man are they fast!

go head and TELL ME WHAT COLOR MY JERSEY IS

have a 40K TT tomorrow as part of an oly tri. Hoping to easily PR it and possibly [??] go under 1:10... [21.3 mph avg], features FLAT course, light winds, some sand, and [6] 180* hairpin turns to deal with. No problem I think. Also on zipp 404s [clincher doe] and a disc cover rear over the 404

That is awesome. I'm guessing you wished you had moved sooner? On a 1-10 amazing scale with 1 being amazing and 10 being super amazing, what would you rate the mountain biking in CO?

Understandable, i'm sure the mountain roads are just gorgeous and are just as awesome as trail riding. I'd probably ride a lot more road if I had those kind of roads at my doorstep, instead I have corn fields.

What sort of heart rate at those speeds?

I did an 8 hour mtb race 2 weeks ago and had an avg. hr of 162bpm for the 8 hours. Couldn't sleep for two nights after that.

avg was 178, which really isnt to high for me. im usually in the 180 range for xc mtb. this was only a cat2/3 crit...our lap times were only 8-10 seconds off of the pro times from later that night. im talking UCI pro teams like united healthcare and astellas. i finished 49/71...didnt even bother to go for it because i would have had to ride 40+ to get to the front and that wasnt happening. it was strung out the whole race from the gun

been there and done that with the 160 range for 8 hours when i did those 100 mile races! i feel ya!
