I gave up both of mine to start the journey to looking like that. Seriously...I started getting in shape shortly after getting my vasectomy. \:D

I never got around to posting pictures here, even though I always meant to. Well hopefully this works!

Me circa Jan 1 2008 and at the time probably about 240 pounds.
Warning, Spoiler:

I just took this picture a few minutes ago. I stay around 160-163 nowadays.
Warning, Spoiler:

I started losing weight on July 26 2009. So it has been a long journey, for the first 2.5 years it was really just lifestyle changes in what I ate. Only since January or so of last year did I really get into fitness. I started doing Starting Strength and running. I haven't gotten too far with the Starting Strength but have gotten a good hold on the running.

Anyway, here you go guys rip me apart. =]

Lol you're right 137, never noticed. I am man!

Anyway my goals right now are running further, and subsequently faster. I have a half marathon (my 2nd) in April, my first marathon in June and thinking about my first ultra (50k) in October.

I'm also thinking of expanding my weight training as well.

I don't plan on a pic for at least another month. I'm doing some new stuff, but until the belly shrinks more, I'll skip.

Squats never did a damn thing for my calves. Mine are still skinny, but have at least got better after biking a lot.

I read something by Arnold in which he said when he was just starting out bodybuilding his calves never grew. Then he started working them out every day. So I basically started doing that as well. Maybe not every day but damn near.

Just like I don't have a propensity for a 6 pack, those same genetics give me big calves without doing much for them. Sure, I bike a lot now and they're bigger/way more vascular, but even when I was literally doing NOTHING to train them (outside of being on my feet a lot in a retail job), they were still big.

Same reason my quads are smaller and not "squared off" like a cyclist's quads should be.

I had them even when I was srawny in college

I'm built exactly like my (late) father. Long torso, short legs, belly, big calves, round head (hey ladies--don't get rough with each other--there's plenty to go around...)

Mine have always been fairly small, even when heavier. Raises, running, stairs have made them respectable.

true it was just a general comment because Id bet money his quads are skinny too ;\)

I always had skinnier calves growing up...but they are starting to fill out. My father always had some decent sized legs and by comparison I was much different...but as I age I see them changing a bit. I dont think Ill end up quite like he was but they will be bigger compared to when I was a teenager thats for sure. (which could be said for almost anyone)

learn how to jump rope, then learn double unders... work your way up to about 250 doubles and your calves will start to grow.

I honestly have no interest in hulking big calves. Completely useless.
In fact I could say that for just about any body part. Saw some guy at the gym last night who was massive and I just thought to myself how useless it was. Dudes range of movement was pretty bad. sure he had some decent strength to move some plates around a bit but ugh. Overall it was a big meh to me. Obviously Ive thought about this many times but it just reminded me again lastnight that being overly huge is not a concern for me. Id rather have some strength (size!=strength :D) and be more on the leaner side of things so I can still function and move with some speed. Not waddle around like a walrus.

I would just like the bottom half of my legs to match the top. My calves and my arms are exactly the same circumference and I would like to maintain that if they get bigger.

Currently hovering at 180 lbs. BF%? No clue. I was 172 the last time I posted a pic, not sure where the added weight went. Maybe my legs? I've been seeing the most gains in that area as far as numbers increasing.

I've been dieting pretty good since early January. I'm still not where I'd like to be strength wise, but it's coming. I'm still dealing with occasional wrist issues due to fucking surgery almost 2 years ago. But progress is progress....just gotta keep at it.
