Clip kept locking up on me (computer not so happy with youtube today) but what I saw looked badass.

I'd cross-train on my MTB if I had a loop like that near me.

Cool footage.

Not enough descending for my tastes, but looks like fun and a great workout.

That loop I gopro'd was so much more of a lung buster at race pace, cut like a minute off of my hot lap times and max HR crested over 200 (puke)

I was shitting myself since that was the section I got a major case of the speed wobbles during a training run and thought I was going to seriously die. Even at that speed there were still guys blasting by me like I was standing still.

I get pretty sketched out above 40mph (plus, my bike is geared-out at that point). People blast past me on descents during TT's. A couple of the chicks will even hit 50.

Got some goodies for the bike recently:

Bontrager Aura 5 front wheel
Conti Grand Prix 4 Season tires
Selle Italia Carbonio SL saddle
Bontrager Air Support micro pump (~100g)

As it sits (loaded, minus bottles), it's 21 lbs. I'm content with that at the moment. \:\)

Went with the aero front because I read in a few places that the front wheel, in clean air, benefits more from aero enhancement. All I know is, it's been VERY windy on my last few rides and I'm tooling along decently. Granted, most of that is conditioning, but I'm guessing I'll be noticeably slower on my other bike.

The cold air seems to slow me down in a big way, regardless. VERY bummed that it's getting cold. \:\(

i can tell a difference just between my mavic ksyriums and and my wheels with only 40mm aero profile. id love to get a 50 or 60 mm set but i think thats prob overkill for just training. if i got carbon clinchers in 50mm id have to start road racing again lol but looks good though gamby! you should try a lighter bike and see how much faster your go, my jamis weighs 16lbs ready to go. makes climbing nice \:\)

I'm actually lusting after a custom steel frame (Circle A Cycles) that I'm thinking I could weight weenie down to ~17.5lbs. That might involve switching to SRAM from Shimano, tho.

Cable discs on some of those Chinese carbon wheels. I just need to come up with a few grand to build it. As I'll need a new DD in the next year, this might not happen for awhile.

I'm sure all the Cat 3 guys you beat this year are writing letters begging them to move you up.

Did a nice group ride on Saturday (on a balmy 67 degree day) with Providence Bicycle (LBS). $25 admission that went to the RI Food Bank and beer & pie at the hosting bar afterwards. We raised $900. It was a mellow 25 mile ride, so I did another 20 before sundown. Great day on the bike. \:\)

I'm middle front in the blue and orange jersey and saggy not-so-nicer shorts (that were sliding down off of the spandex cycling shorts)

next year, instead of trying to compete in PRO/CAT1 XC racing, me and my buddy decided that we are going to focus on the National Ultra Endurance Series. The local XC scene is pretty much dominated by Scott Pro MTB'ers and theres no way i wanna put that kinda time in to compete with that, so instead of working my ass off to be a mid pack cat 1 me and my buddy decided to try our hand at the National Ultra Endurance Series, which is basically 15 100mile or so races, over 14 states. only going to do like 5 "close" to us. We did a few long races, 70+ miles and 12 hour, and did quite well so we are gonna try our hand at this. we wont be competing for the win here either, but im thinking we will be around top 25 range. plus i just think it would be cool to ride 100 miles through the woods and see all the bad ass sights and it would be more full fulling then doing 6 mile laps on courses ive ridden for 2 years. gonna be a whole new world of pain

3 as well - I'll probably put in after a few of the late winter endurance races to see where I am fitness wise as the Cat2 30-39 group is pretty brutal and I know of the #1 and #2 guys from 20-29 both will be in the 30-39 group as well next year.

Last mtb of the year for me (OK series was done a few weeks ago - so figured I go see how I felt on the trail I had my first mtb race on)

Hot Springs, AR - ~1100ft of climbing a lap (9mi) and it was fcking COLD. Cold enough that any water I got on my tire was frozen while waiting around for the race to start. The first 3-4 miles my lungs were on fire and made for a miserable race. Ended up 4th behind the 3 guys that were the overall point leaders for the Ark race series and plus they walked away from my fat ass once we got to the first major series of switchback climbs. I also think I under-dressed .. waaay underdressed.

Not sure if any of you guys use trainerroad in the winter, but if so I created a ClubSi team. Hopefully if we get a few people we can keep each other motivated over the winter.

It's only $10 per month and you can cancel anytime! For the price I think it's great, i'd never be able to do useful work on the trainer without it.

Today will likely be my first day on the trainer for this winter. \:\(

Gonna go put my crap tire on a beater wheel in preparation.

God, I hate that thing. \:\(

What trainer do you have? Spend the $10 a month and use trainerroad, it will help a ton getting through those workouts! So much better than just pedaling aimlessly without any real specific goal, really helps to stay on track.
Once you sign up, join the clubsi team. Only two members, not off to a good start \:\(
