Started week1 / day1 of c25k on Tuesday. I'm running on the highschool track. So far so good.
I'm using the iphone app, but I don't have a solid way of measuring my speed though
Doing Day 2 tonight.

Started week1 / day1 of c25k on Tuesday. How's your progress so far? I'm using the Nike Plus system to track my runs.. you may want to look into that if you are interested in more run data.
I started Week 4, Day 1 of C25K today. 34 minutes, 3.18 miles.
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
* Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes) * Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds) * Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes) * Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes) * Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes) * Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds) * Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

im startin out this week hard. last week i started at the gym doing 30 mins @ 5.5 2.0 incline, and last quarter 8.5 (no breaks) making 3 miles. 2 days into it, my leg felt like it wanted to fall, hurt walking down stairs ect so i had to rest the rest.
mile at the gym 5.5mph incline 2.0. then head off to the spot i like to run (outdoors) and around is .69 miles. im just about no problem completing two laps with out a break. i do at least 3-4 laps around. first lap non stop (plus little extra distance to be about a mile run), and then i mix it up the rest of the way. day 2 today! and then i lay out in the field gettin burnt. i am so frigging red. haha

long time no post in this thread.
gearing up for another half marathon coming in October. Here's my schedule:
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src...merica/New_York
been doing 3 mile runs on M-W-F for the past few weeks after taking nearly 6 months off. Last time I ran a race was in January, and leading up to that I was dealing with some kneed and calf issues so I am focusing on strength and stretching this go-around.

In related news, does anyone use a garmin watch? I am looking at the 310xt or the 305. Not sure if I need the 20 hour battery and waterproofing that the 310xt gives. The 305 might suffice. I've heard you should avoid the 405.

I think I did pretty good today running.
@ the gym 5.5mph incline 2.0 did a whole mile (switched it up to 6.0 last tenth just to finish) no breaks.
Went out running around the same spot I usually ago. 1 lap = .69 around. First lap I did @ right around 4 mins (no breaks, and just finally timing my self), walked a little ran a bit etc.. did a total of 4 laps and took about 35 mins. I am taking a break right now and gonna go back up and jog in a few hours again

So far so good, wk2 day1 last night. I may pick up the nike plus. Did week 5, run 1 yesterday without much drama. A lot of people that do the C25K flame out in week 4 or 5, so I'm excited that I'm still on track.
The week5, run 3 is the first run without any intervals.
CG: Good work, running for an hour straight is pretty impressive.

Ugh. It's been hot here, but thankfully not super humid (although lately, it has been pretty humid for DFW). I couldn't do it in high humidity. I can't wait til it cools down. I think I might actually enjoy it then

I cut the shit out of my leg crashing my bike on Monday. Deep cut with stitches at two levels right around the back of the knee.
Can't run or ride until it stops fucking hurting. Luckily didn't sever anything important, so I should be able to get back on track for my September half marathon.

Yes. This is going to cost me at least 20 miles before the end of that challenge.

after getting injured late last year (right knee, left calf), I've come to learn that the area of pain a lot of times is not the area of injury. Case in point, my right knee pain was a combo of tightness in the glute and weak hamstrings.
for my calf it ended up again being a hamstring issue.
Best thing to do is get yourself a foam roller and work your legs a few times a week - calf, hamstring, quad and glute.

I like The Stick, too. Although, I do a lot of foam rolling and yoga, too.
yeah, the stick is good, but it's pricier and i find I can't get the same "grind" with the stick as I can with my bodyweight on the foam roller.
the stick: http://www.amazon.com/Stick-17-5-Self-Ma...80861151&sr=8-7
you should be able to find a foam roller for around $15 locally
Also, a tennis ball or better yet a softball is great to work specific knots and break up your sore muscles.
