I have those obliques too. Has an even worse "love handle" effect on me since my bodyfat level is a *tad* higher than yours.

I don't think I'll ever be able to really flatten them out, though, simply because of how much soccer play I. I'm a defender, so you spot up on the guy, and are constantly turning your hips while keeping the upper body relatively straight ahead. Puts a lot of pressure on the obliques, and they just get bigger and bigger because you work them so much.

Past 3 weeks, taking in less calories (ie not snacking at night and less beer); have gone from 196 to 184. No cardio lol

thats the crazy thing, i've actually lost a few lbs thanx to running daily along with lifting, lots of core work and basketball. i eat like a horse and at 34 yrs old im pretty amazed that im still getting leaner.

i don't try to stay lean. i eat like a pig. which seems to have improved my abs (there is slightly more fat on them, but the extra muscle makes up for it)

and i'm 5'8"

5 days a week. no sups or vitamins, although i should. i'll hit 400 deadlift in the next couple months

Hey man I definitely meant 'stay lean' as a big compliment. The amount of weight you are lifting for your body weight is awesome plus you have the endurance to boot. Strength, endurance and agility? What is there not to like about staying lean.
