The WS9 hood needs to be adjusted a tad, hence the gap on the driver's side.

And finally, Ellis.

If you want to fix those cracks in the leather I just fixed my passenger seat with a kit from www.leatherrepairkits.com and it worked great.

I was wondering about the springs on the car. The ride height appears pretty tall, even for stock springs. I had the SLP suspension package with Bilsteins on my Firehawk, but it didn't appear much lower than stock F-bodies. Pic for reference, same tire size.

How do you like the GSD3s?

A tad? I am surprised the additional drag hasn't affected the 1/4 to glory. And please get a spring kit at minimum....that ride height is painful to look at repeatedly.

You may want to make sure your air box lid is closed fully towards the rear. It doesn't look as though the lid tabs are seated in the slots correctly... don't want you getting crap into your engine.

I was under the impression that aftermarket f-body hoods were all supposed to resemble rippled sieves lol more holes than metal. Something about making body panels to resemble kitchen utensils so the car looks more agressive.

Yes that's stock? No fucking way... why does every other f-body on ebay or wherever have the rear spoiler tail-light at the apex of the end of the spoiler and not at the bottom? That doesn't resemble any oem f-body spoiler i've ever seen.

The only thing that's not factory on the body is the hood. That's a stock Trans Am spoiler.

Oh no, i was talking about the red mecham picture I posted. Your spoiler looks fine (i actually have kind-of a thing for dark, stock looking T/As). The one in the mecham photo looks beyond rediculous.

INDEED it is. I can't think of a single production Mecham component that isn't overdone... and his parts are made for a car that was already a little over-the-top from the factory. The spoiler is a monstrous whale tail, the hood is a gilled, fragile fiberglass abomination and the exhaust tips are suitable for 138kV transmission line conduit. A single-outlet 3" stainless tip that's 7.5" wide!

You want oval tips? Buy a pair of 4.5" x 3" stainless slash-cut tips from Mufflex. They looked good on my T/A.

*exactly* what I was thinking. I'd be embarassed to be seen in a car done up like *any* of the cars that I saw on his website and it takes a lot to embarass me.

I still like the smaller 6"x3" Mecham ovals over the Mufflex tips.

I like the Mechams for a couple reasons, they're cast aluminum chromed tips, so they won't rust, and since they're cast they won't sound "tinny".

Back on topic.

Your TA looks good, especially in that special metalic gray color.
You may want to look at dropping the car a little to finalize the look.

yeah but are they big enough? I highly doubt you could see those from Jupiter and for me that's a *must*. I figure they'd get too small and fuzzy to make out once you got past the moon.

ps- I hope to god you haven't ever called *anyone* a ricer... dual 3x6 tips. Jesus.

EDIT: Seriously though, if you are planning on getting those tips I'd jump on it ASAP, it's only a matter of time before NASA nails them for stealing their design.

btw, from the bitterness in your post i'll assume you already went to order your jumbo tips and found out they were already installed on the next orbiter. Sorry

I liked the stock tips, the problems is they neck down to almost 2 - 2.25" internally.
These have 3" inlets.

If only different tips could make my car rev higher, then they would be worthwhile right spotch?

Your right, 1" larger tips than stock are completely rice.
My car is the definition of rice just thinking about those tips.

So if someone added a spoiler to the back of an evo or STi that was even larger just because they felt like it it wouldn't be rice? I've seen *tons* of modified f-bodies and somehow the vast majority seem to get away with some serious exhaust modifications without looking like total ass. The mecham tips do not fall into that category. But the fact that thousands of other f-body owners can get away with an aftermarket setup that doesnt make them look like they're trailer park for lyfe but you would choose that look anyway does help strengthen the case for you having poor taste.

Go ahead and tip yourself silly, just realize i'll be here ready to laugh my ass of at you next time you mock someone else for having a rediculous exhaust setup.

And make sure it's a single tip because two tips on a single exhaust = rice.

The only thing that's not factory on the body is the hood. That's a stock Trans Am spoiler.

I think they were discussing the GIANT wing on the red one...

So pretty pretty much every F-body with a non-stock exhaust is rice by your definition, because all catbacks have different or larger tips than stock
I could care less about your opinion, Honduuu 4 lyfe Vtack

I had dual tip blowmasters on my 94 Z28 and they were smaller than stock (2.5" slant-cut outlets versus flat ~5" rectangles) and the Borla available at the time had probably similar outlet versus stock proportions. Just FYI rice face.

I liked the stock tips, the problems is they neck down to almost 2 - 2.25" internally.
These have 3" inlets.

If only different tips could make my car rev higher, then they would be worthwhile right spotch?

I'ma polish/gloss black the stock tips, and cut them so they have a 2.5" opening for a "project" that should finish up in a few weeks.

Having said that, back to catfighting!

The 5" rectangles are only about 2 inches tall, the Borla's are dual tips, so they're double the number of tips vs stock.

The Mechams are nice tips because they're cast aluminum like the stock bird tips, and they're also chromed. I polished the stock tips, and they tarnish too quickly. The cast tips also give a deeper, less tinny sound. There are reasons why I like the tips, not just omg they are bigger they must be better.

7" tips...

This guy must be your hero:

Funny thing is, even that guy doesn't misrespresent his actual exhaust system with a Y-pipe...

Look, we were just having some friendly banter here w/ the occasional funny....and here you come posting a pic that I am pretty sure started the first "rice" related thread on the internet and attempting to get some "lols". Please crawl back to ricecop.com and continue where you left off reading. We might be a little too advanced for you.

I like my stock oval tip. I think it looks pretty nice, and I still have retained it on the new catback, mainly because I could not afford a polished tip I wanted, which looks the same way anyway. I'll post a picture when I will get home, or you can see it my cardomain page in my sig.

looks ok but would be better with a round one. at least it's slash cut which isn't nearly as offensive as the rolled oval tip.

also, you spent a small fortune on that car but can't afford a muffler tip?? wtf???

The only time large tips look bad are when they are on a piece of shit economy car. Otherwise, they can actually enhance the design of a car pretty well.

How is it not rice to put two 7" tips on a car which has (an) exhaust pipe(s) less than 3"? Seems like that's the definition of rice. There's nothing inherent about the way an economy car looks that means a 7" tip will look any different than it will on a moderately fast car. You just know the economy car is slow so you laugh. Well there's no way a moderately fast F-Body needs DUAL 7" tips, so you know it's just for show and not go, hence rice.

I thought this was the performance forum?

I ran out of money. and 80 bucks for a tip seemed a little steep at a time.

Here is a best picture I have of it. I really wish I had some batteries in the camera, but I don't at this time.

They did not have anything that I liked. I would want to replace it with a stock style tip (oval slash cut).

my old tips have been called "ricey" (by people on here too) on the t/a but I got them simply to fill in the large gaps in the bumper GM made but stuck a single tip in the middle. It always looked weird to me.

stock:

my "ricey" tips:

random fact: 98' ws6's only came with one fat exhaust tip coming out one notch in the bumper, the other was empty. I guess GM assumed people would get aftermarket exhausts and let it be ugly.

Those tips look good. About the 98, I remember that as well. If you remember, the very first SS camaros of 4th gen, came with SLPs two on the left. I am guessing they tried to do the same for the firebird, and realized that there was a second hole to fill, unlike camaro which just had a flat bottom.

It all depends on the design of the car. Some cars have the rear designed so that anything too small simply looks like crap. The Trans Am rear happens to be one of them. Look at the size of those openings.

Yeah, a Porsche 911 must be a rice bucket too since it has tips larger than the pipe diameter too, right?

I'm not the one who brought up the exhaust tip issue.

There's nothing wrong with making a car look correct.

So now styling is an objective thing?

When the hell did I say anything about 7 inch tips? You've said this twice already, but I know I didn't.

Who said it was? Things that look like shit look like shit. Go to a bank in a speedo if you don't believe me.
