I'm seeing the alert fatigue really hit my little bubble ...
- Heading into gas stations to buy lotto (so pre-COVID eh?), and fucking tards, mostly women, walk in WITHOUT masks, their kids too, and you can just see they are gonna pull the "Was gonna go in quickly, forgot the mask" type bullshit...

- Started swimming lessons with the toddler, and horry fack, we be so fucked. Pool area closed off by glass, no one wearing masks, teenaged-instructors wearing a plastic face shield \:\| (Limit 1 adult per kid throughout the area, but still.) Basically zero protection...

- At my parents condo, half the people 'forget' or just DGAF and don't wear masks on the elevator... \:\|

Everyone's stopped worrying about fomite transmission vectors (i.e. catching COVID by touching something) -- near the peak I picked up 600 pairs of latex gloves I have about 200 masks still ...

With the changing direction of 3-ply masks vs 'home-made/fabric' masks .... and the numbers surging/spiking .... \:\|

re: annual flu shot, that was another endeavour ... Drove out to Stoney Creek (~25km) to get a damned shot; was refreshing and hunting on the Shoppers Drug Mart website for supply... \:\|

Got our flu shots at our family doc. They had a station in the parking lot and were taking walk-ins (of their patients only). Was a fairly fast process.

Our doc sold her practice almost a year ago and the flu shot was the first time I met the new doc. Young asian female, somewhat cute...prostate exam will be even more uncomfortable going forward

Mask wise, it is rare that i will see someone indoors without a mask of some sort but again, I am just in and out for getting the few things i need through the week.

Interesting that Costco is now saying mask (covering mouth AND nose), OR face shield are mandatory. Better than nothing, but I'm not a fan.

we just dont do anything that involves being around people for leisure activities, it's gonna suck but what can you do with other tards around

I only do necessity shopping and do it later in the evening or early to avoid people, wife does shopping for groceries the same way

no activities that the kids are signed up for so after school/daycare they just come home or play outside if the weathers still nice

i went to princess auto on a sunday at noon and had the usualy guys walking around with mask half down so they could talk to the store workers, or some guys had their masks off completely, enough of that and I quickly finished up and left

I have no time for idiots who don't give a crap about others around them

I dont buy into the glove thing, I'm just super cautious of what I touch and when I hop into the car its sanitize, when I come home phone gets cleaned with alcohol and hands washed right away

I think people with gloves forget they still have to touch the gloves to take them off etc and feel they dont have to clean as much

Wife and I still work from home. Grandma moved in after the cousins went back to school. She helps with babysitting my daughter.

We go out for groceries early and late as well. In Markham, every time I am out, I'd see maybe under 5 people or so that would not have a mask on properly.

In the summer, we did some patio restaurants but now its off the table.

The winter is going to suck.

Always cautious, but had my guard down a bit more over the last couple of months (always masked up, none of the nonsense, but was more open to meeting people in person). Dialing it back down again.

Shields being allowed in lieu of masks. My concern is that a lot of people (who aren't anti-maskers) will choose the shield, even though the mask is much more effective in stopping the spread.

i only go out for essentials maybe once a week. i go at odd times as well.
usually its okay. store is usually empty. everyone is wearing masks. but i haven't been to many places. no frills, walmart basically.
markham is doing alot better than most place as far as i can see. where i live its mostly older asian people who are all cautious by culture.

Went to Costco locally ... fucking line up stretched around the building at 10am in the morning ...

No mad dashes/hoarding of anything; tons of TP, Kirkland and others. Just ... the line up ... fuck.

And, it's the wkend, so here I go bringing the toddler to a fucking 'swimming lesson' with no mask and 10 other adults and kids. \:\|

Who would thought there would be a long line up on a Saturday morning, just after they announced a lock down?

Not sure if it was an Adamson BBQ supporter-type idiot, but ...

Wife tells me a patient came into her section tested positive \:\| Her section has higher-scrutiny re: Covid - all patients undergo Covid testing (at the hospital) 2-3 days prior to their procedures. Apparently said idiot tested positive before the test they had at the hospital (so I'm guessing lied on the intake forms.)

Wife is already in full-blown gear daily (though I think they're still rationing N95s to 1/pp/daily) ....

Seeing more covid cases at work each day... most of them we tell to stay home and finish their quarantine (they're already positive... and even if they're not, they still need to fulfill that)

But noticing a slight increase in patients who actually need to go to hospital for their symptoms.

Overall volume definitely increasing tho.

With the misinformation between public health units and schools etc its no wonder so many are unclear on what to do if exposed and if they should quarantine until results are ok.

Had a friend who came in contact with someone as a confirmed case, went to get tested, no symptoms and their employer asked them to come in even though they hadn't received their results yet. Luckily they were NEG but imagine if they came back positive and now they spread it to everyone else at work. Everyone has their own guidelines on what they think they should do when really we need 1 body making the firm rules.

Whats also crazy is how easily this spreads, yet I've heard of cases where a family member gets it and nobody else in the family gets it even though they are sharing amenities in the house etc, so weird
