Yeah, this thread kicks ass for pure informational purposes....

Its turned into a good forum man!!

Hit me up on aim sometime, we gotta catch up. Either way, back on topic....

That vacuum is the shit. If I had the money, I would splurge and get the Sr, with the wall mount, but thats just way out of the price range for me right now. I think I'll be ordering the other one in a few weeks though once I get some major bills paid off - its really lookin' good for the business. If you get it before me let me know how you like it.

So, I was doing some research today, and found an alternative to paying $32 for a thing of P21s.

http://www.autogeek.net/s1capawax.html

I bring you, S100. Apparently its the same thing as the P21s, made by the same company, just used on motorcycles. However, its 50% cheaper, and you can't argue with that!!!

I'm already stocked up on my P21s, but when I need to buy more I'll be getting the S100.

Yea, Ive read on Autopia and S2ki.com that the stuff is EXACTLY the same, just a vaguely different smell. But who cares about that. Oh, and for whoever is going to order the Poorboy's, a few benefits are that they all smell incredible AND THEY CAN BE USED IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT! Which is nice to use in the summer months...

Hmm, this poorboys stuff sounds kinda cool. I heard the Poorboys Natty's Blue is an amazing carnuba wax also. Have you tried it yet?

Yea, I'll be ordering the 3.0, 2.5 and 1.0 as a package per say..

I'd like to get a nice carnuba as well..but from my understanding I am limited to certain color cars...lighter/darker would need two versions??

Btw, I'm glad I could breath some life in here for ya... \:D

I got a free bottle of the Natty Carnauba, and well, your opinion is spot on. Give it about 30 minutes to set, and just EASILY wipe it off. It leaves the slickest feel Ive seen. It doesnt leave a great "depth" look to light cars, but on dark cars, its wicked. The only thing better is the Pinnacle Sovereign wax, but that craps expensive.

That's actually pretty cool. The only issue I have is that I need something that can be applied in 100+ degree weather. Right now I wait until 8pm or later to start working on the car because it's too damn hot during the day. lol 110 today.

Poorboy's will work no problem. just dont let your sweat drip on it. They made it so you CAN detail in high heat and sun conditions! It says so right on the bottle.

Do you think the natty's is better then the P21s/S100?
Have you used the P21s/S100?

I've used many waxes, and nothing compares to that stuff - if you get any on your hands you'll be dropping stuff for the rest of the day due to the slickness haha. It gives an amazing feel and amazing look, and I just can't picture anything doing justice better.

I might try it sometime, but for right now I need to chill with spending money on detailing supplies. The poorboys 1, 2.5 and 3 sound good too, but I think it would be adding more steps to my process, and I already have a great working process down pat with all the proper pads. I think that would add a few more steps too.

Right now, I'll use one of the Meg's paint cleaners if the paint is in bad condition, and then follow up with the Sonus swirl remover. I have two yellow pads for both of these. After that, I'll either use Meg's #3 or #7 glaze (white pad) and #26 yellow wax (blue finishing pad) if its a regular cusomers car (older camry, civic, etc) or Klasse glaze/sealant (white pad) followed by P21s (applied by hand) if its for a higher class car with nicer paint (BMW, Ferrari, etc). This seems to work great for me and isn't too much work at all.

Any reason why you apply the Klasse with the white pad rather than the blue? Personal preference?

Although it is also a sealant, I'm using it as a glaze to gloss up the paint. I may be wrong (let me know Matt what you think), but I feel that it would work better as a glaze with the "more aggressive" white pad. I suppose the blue would work too though.

Also, it should be noted that you can add multiple layers of the klasse for a nicer deeper look, however you're supposed to wait in between, and I don't have enough time to do that with customers cars, and one does just fine.

Ehhh, I dont know. I think the blue pad would be better suited for the Klasse. If you go to a more agressive pad, you might undo some of the before work. However, if you're using it as a glaze, I suppose its not a huge deal. Its splittin hairs in my opinion, but Im leaning towards the side of blue pad.

Well the white pad is meant for the glaze, its semi-aggressive but not as much so as the yellow. The only work done before hand would be the cleaner/swirl remover and those are abrasives used with the yellow. The white surely wouldn't put any more swirls or scratches back in the paint, it would just work better to gloss it IMO.

I can see the argument for the blue pad for leaving the wax part of the klasse, but I guess thats the problem you get with these 2 in 1 products. Just like for the klasse AIO product; would you use the more aggressive yellow or the white? You'd want to use the yellow one so it could do its work...

I just got an email from Autopia saying their going to send me a new clay bar kit.

I sent them an email telling them how the kit I got was leaking (it didn't really leak a whole lot, enough to get 1/2 the microfiber towel wet though) and that I wanted them to know in case other kits were like this. I didn't write the email expecting to get something for free (HxGuy) but this is a welcomed surprise!

+1 for Autopia!

Oh, ok. Not a problem. It's only the trunk and top of the wing..

I tried that on my neighbors truck...only a yr or 2 old ford 150...paint is in great shape..except on the hood..it has the same etching like my trunk & wing..

We both rubbed forever trying to get it off...NOTHING. Used distilled vinager and a microfiber towl...

\:\(

I took a pic of my wing and circled the "problem areas" so you all can see what I am talking about..

On my trunk and wing.. \:\(

Any help would be fantastico !!

Adam-

I dont know how in the world youre going to get those black circles out of your paint, Id be pissed if I had crap like that on my car. Maye try an eraser or something?

Anyways, jokes aside, Bobbys right, you need an agressive swirl remover (Megs High Cut Polish, Poorboy's SSR3, etc), and an agressive pad (Wolfgang Concourse Yellow), and then just work your way back. If you have the balls, and that does not work, it might be worth it to try and give it a little wetsand.

They do look like water spots..but if you look closely it is more like etching in the clear..hard to explain..

Regardless I am ordering some Poorboys 3.0, 2.5 and 1.0 this week to see what happens..

For some reason there are several cars around me that have the same issue..hoods and roofs..

I figured it was from all the local plants polluting the atmosphere...

Do you have sprinkler systems around you that maybe have acids or something else in the water? Strange.... I had that happen once to me on my old EBP, sprinklers at a hotel in ohio on my way back to NY had chemicals, i had no supplies, and then a 10 hour drive the next day with the hot sun beating down on the hood... i was able to get them out with a lot of bit of elbow grease once i got home though...

and lol @ my drunken post last night. Sorry boys, at least its somewhat understandable

I believe it's just acid rain...

A buddy of mine stopped @ our local detailer of 25yrs and picked up some polish he had. He put some in a small bottle for us to try...

It got rid of the water spots..but the clear is still etched..dimpled almost..

Just ordered the Poorboy's SSR3/2.5/1 to see if that helps..

If not, it's wetsand time...

Good luck! I went over to the local paint shop yesterday and picked up some Meg's #2 Fine cut cleaner, #7 glaze and another yellow cutting pad so I can start working on the car today.

Ive tried it with 2000 grit sandpaper in a very inconspicuous area. Its nerve racking, but it really isnt as bad as it sounds. If youre 1/2 way competent, you should be fine.

I've wet sanded before..no big deal..just wondered what grit I needed...

Should I freehand or block it?

Freehand. BLock is better for sanding on wood, but on cars you need to really feel the surface through the paper.

It greatly improved the look, but they is still easily visible pitting in the clear...
