I've tried everything EXCEPT iphone. BB, Windoze, Android, u name it. I just want something that works, and doesnt have a gigantor screen. A phone should be the size of a phone, and a *smart* phone should work and be reliable. Unfortunately, my android phone(s) have not been the most stable, and over time, the android experience deteriorates.
A *smart* phone should have a good library of applications. Windoze unfortunately didn't fit that bill, but I otherwise liked it the most.
Right now I'm running around with a LG G4 and despite it being a top shelf new phone, it is not that stable/reliable, and the battery life sucks. And anything over 5 inches (this is 5.5) is too big imo. That brings me to iphone (5s or 5c). 4inch. Much better.
From what I can tell from those who own one, they simply work. That's what I'm hoping for. Thoughts? is it a good move? I can basically buy a brand new 5c for 100. No contract, yada yada yada. I'm not after the latest and greatest. Just want reliable and decent battery life.

No, i'm not certain of that. I havent actually lived with an iphone day to day, so I'm not sure that I'm just looking at it via "the other side of the grass is always greener"

with any phone, it will feel good at first then start to get slower as apps get updated over time, requesting more memory usage, battery power etc...
ive never had a problem with iphones, i just hated itunes and the whole apple infrastructure.
good luck!

What is the price difference between a 5 and 6. Opt for a 6.

Thanks for the input. So it sounds like apple is good, except for battery life. hmm. Are there those battery apps where u can control things like mobile data when a phone is put in standby mode etc to assist with this?
I do not intend to connect it to email etc, so it wont be performing any push/pull outside of whatsapp (which lol, is totally not critical).
As for price difference between 5 and 6, it's like 600 dollars difference lol. the 6 isn't on my radar. Too much and imo looks like poop!

Blackberry passport. Best phone I have used to date. Bought the wife a iPhone 6+ and it's buggy.
The battery life rocks on the pp and it's really stable.

I have the 5S from work, its leaps and bounds better than my 5 re: battery life. I also don't play mad Clash of Clans on my work phone which is probably a reason why my 5S is still good.

was never an apple fanboy, but their phones are significantly better simpler/more reliable than the rest of the garbage out there. They work well, don't crash, fast, etc. battery life does suck, but it's a compromise I am willing to make for something that works so well

Bought every iPhone since the 3G; have tried the Note and returned it.
Surfing on the 6 is a bit buggy, Safari crashes a lot.
Battery life is okay, but if you make the habit of charging during the day you should be fine... like at your desk or on the way home from work.
iPhone just works (mostly) and that is why it is so successful.

i went from an iphone4 (non-S) straight to an iPhone6.
never had a problem with battery life -- mind you i'm one of those guys that don't upgrade their OS all the time (in fact w/ the 4, i never did - lol) ... maybe that's why i didn't have any problems.
w/ the 6 - i'm using it a lot more (esp. now that i take the Go train - i play stupid games on it a lot more ); and i can still get through a day w/o having to recharge.
i was never into "modding" my PCs or laptops or whatever -- bone stock straight out of the box is fine by me and that's what the iPhone did for me.
i'm also using a 6 year old macbook white. it still runs pretty solid despite the laptop battery can't be recharged any more.
might as well buy one and try it -- there's always a market for it so you can sell it if you don't like it.

I've had my Note 2 for over 2 years, no issues. Battery life is pretty good as well (I usually end up with 30-40% at the end of the day)
I am leaning iPhone for my next one just for the camera however.

phones are like personal computers, its all in how you use it.
if a person downloads every app under the sun and install a trillion things it will be slow.
if a person tries to hack or root it, it will be buggy.
same with windows on a desktop.. if a person has ten billion things in the task tray and a million other apps running on startup, then obviously it will be laggy.
then they blame the computer maker.. "this HP is such a POS", meanwhile the 4 anti viruses they installed are all fighting each other, on top of the 17 search bar tools running at the same time
i dunno.. i'm still on my galaxy s3, which i got in july 2012, and it still runs perfectly
the LTE radio takes up a ton of battery life, so i wish it had a bigger battery, but other than that i have no reason to upgrade
of course apps can crash, because the apps themselves are buggy, but the phone performance has stayed the same throug its life.
keep the system clean and you'll get good performance in return?

I have no custom launchers or anything, and actually, i disable many stock bloatware apps to free up ram. Despite that, stability is an issue (xperia sp - mind you, that is 3+ years old now). As for the LG G4, if I browse enough pages, the back button no longer works on the browser, or scrolling up and down becomes laggy. I've also managed to make all icons on my home screen disappear (bug). But after cycling the screen on and off, the icons came back XD
That's silly small stuff that should just work. LG G4 is 100% bone stock. The battery life stuff I'm hearing on iphones do scare me doe. I'm by no means a power user, and don't use my phone insanely. That said, I still find the 3000mah battery in the G4 lacking (it's a 5.5inch screen doe).
Does anyone have an iphone with push/pull notifications disabled? Curious to know batt life in that situation

yeah i hear ya
i wish there was a phone out there with a huge bat and a "regular" screen aka 4.8-5.0, so that the bigger battery actually adds lifespan, not just to keep up with more power consumption

the point of "hacking" and "rooting" the android phone is to remove bloatware BS and tweak the kernel to ensure a longer battery life and smoother performance. I've had no issues with my phones in the past except me constantly dropping and smashing it whenever it falls off of my desk or my hand.
