do it or just do the engine conversion on your car

engine conversion is cheaper

Get the 2002 Si, the interior is bad ass, from the pictures I've seen, the seats look like the old ITR seats. In addition to that is an ample engine for a hatch.

Almost looks like a hybrid Focus. I'm not sure I big on the dash mounted shifter either. Maybe if when I can finally drive one I'll change my mind.

Trading an EX or lower might be worth it but not 99-00 Si. Starting in almost the exact same spot. For the money you'll lose on a trade in you could do good mods on the way to 98 Spec R level. For the mula to complete 02 CTR conversion from 02 Si you could be done with 98 Spec R level, including Recaros, etc.

But yeah that 02 CTR does look sweet. Almost as good as the EK9 IMO.

2002 Si for sure. Cmon Mike, you know you will be a much happier person

Also, take into consideration that...

A)You are still paying off the Auto EX.
B)Motor Swap costs Money
C)It also voids that extended warrantee you love so much
D)You can have a brand new car that is probably just what you want... meaning... Quick, Stick, and my first pick...
E)You'll have a whole new warrantee

I think the car looks awesome.

Go for it!

My thoughts ...

The CTR pic above looks pretty badass from the rear. But that's not the car you're getting. It's the not-nearly-as-cool-looking Si. How many people have full CTR conversion in the US? A few, but it's expensive.

As for the performance of the Si... well we first need to start with the 2700+Mike = not a light hatchback. Now I'm sure the powerband is much nicer considering the higher displacement ... It's stil hard to judge Buy it and run it at the track for us Mike!

I agree with what was said above. I personally dont think that the new Si is that great looking. Just like with most cars, I'm sure they can be made to look pretty good with some work done to them.

I hate to say it, but you might find a better choice looking outside what Honda has to offer.

Get it and import all the JDM parts you can find in Japan. I think that car is going to be fun to mod especially with the 2 liters.

The bummer of the 2002 Si is that it will need some serious help in the cosmetic dept, which bums me out. The 99-00 only really needed a drop for it to look good. This one needs lip, sideskirts, drop and wheels in order to make it look decent.

Never mind the porky weight and low redline...

You have my unconditional support so get the car. I'd like to see how this board will turn out when '99-00 Si owners begin to smack about '02 Si owners or vice versa.

I would go for it. But how are the payments going to look and how are they going to treat you on your trade? Those are things you have to look at.

Get a '00 Si. The '02 Si is drop dead ugly. The '00 Si also has better suspension.

Get one if you want. It should be every bit as fast as an Si,and maybe a bit faster, with a wider powerband. It makes more torque, will likely have a nicer interior, and with the shifter mounted rally-style,would be fun to drive hard.

And being a 2.0 litre, the mods will wake it up much better. Think of the work that people go through to make 2.0 litre NA motors to swap into Civics.

You can't be serious about the suspension thing? The macpherson suspension is fine. The M3 uses it for crying out loud. At worst the Si would need some springs to get it from 4x4 status to normal.

Thank you! Half the people posting here must be BLIND because that car is UGLY, not an opinion, it's a FACT! The back angle there looks nice but make no mistake, from the front and the interior, that car is THEE ugliest Civic ever made.

And Ken (Type Si), that 2.0 motor is pathetic and slow, 160 hp @ 130 lb/ft?? That hatch is way too heavy thus negating the extra 15 lb's of torque that the extra .4 liters gives to it.

Keep the EX, you'll be happier. If you must trade it in, look outside Honda.. one car to consider, Sentra SE-R Spec V. That car has it down, looks (for the most part) and it will rip the 02 Si a new one when it comes to performance.

I don't think the front looks bad at all. I'm sure within a few months alot of shops will be selling the factory lips, sideskirts ETC. to make the 2002 Si look as nice as all of the above pics.

Well, that is my OPINION. The only real facts are that they are Hondas and are great cars

Now get that shit Mike!

I want to make sure that you know that the new '02 SI is not going to look like that CTR. The new CTR is not really the same at all. The only good news might be that the CTR is coming to America. Ive read in different places that it is, but does anyone know for a fact if it is?

Heres a link that redlynr already posted about the new SI http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=coverstory&loc_code=index&content_code=03514130

Just give it a month or 2 and you'll have all the bodykits you'll need.

I'm still upset about the head that's on the 160hp motor. But that's another issue.

Why you should keep the EX.

Engine is lighter then Dohc. lighter car over all.

Greddy turbo should give you 250 to the flywheel when properly setup. I've seen stock block EX run low 13's on td04-15G.

And because gurls dig silver EX, and you know it!!!!

BTW my car is going on a Dyno very very soon for a tune up of my secret parts. I'll post that up soon. I expect 240 to the wheels.

Drag racing sux, Mountain racing rules!!!!

Iniital D style!!!
