I am never doing hardwood again in any home I own. I like to build shit to last with the least amount of maintenance. High quality Laminate for me frown now on.

I figure I spend at least 300 more a year running my ac extra to keep humidity in check just for the floor. The floor serves its purpose but I've given up. I've dropped shit on it and I've dented it in multiple spots. It shows and cleans up well but fuck this bullshit. Looks great but not worth it when laminate is light years better.

^^ What additional maintenance for hardwood, besides the initial installation?
Basements are the most humid parts of te house, if you don't control that the floors will expand at the edges and look wavy. If you have to do hardwood go with oak I find it's the toughest hardwood and it lasts a while. It just has a shitty looking grain.

^^ What additional maintenance for hardwood, besides the initial installation? wait until it gets some age and use.

I guess I'll just stick to a small space like the bathroom.
Hardwood width = 18.8 cm Tile width = 18 cm
Thanks for your input.

There is nothing wrong with wood looking tiles...they have their place/purpose in specific homes.
My only issue is using wood floors and butting up to "wood tile" to try and match. That doesn't work (the matching part), pick one or the other. If you have to tile an area use a different tile to break up the space.
