basiclly i just finished my ls/vtec build. all type r internals, added knock sensor, the hole deal. kept power steering and a/c. i currently have the car still obd 2 for diag reasons.im not going the retard route and putting in a chipped p28 just to get rid of cel.sorry but dont take offence. my issue is my car is running lean and cant decide which way to go about fixing it. first choice is bigger injectors either prelude or rcs 270cc. second choice trying a obd2 gsr ecu. not sure about that one but makes sense. as of right now im running a chiped obd2 computer and just have the fuel pressure turned up. and i no this wont last. any imput would be appriciated

A P72 ECU (GSR) may help you. However, the only reason you'd need a p72 is because you have a GSR IM and need the IAB valve function.
Why do you think a chipped p28 is "retard route"? That's what you need to do in order to run a tuning program like crome, neptune, etc.
So right now you're telling me you're running a ls/vtec motor on a non-vtec ECU and don't understand why you are running lean?
If I were you, I would do what you are avoiding and get a chipped p28 ecu and get it tuned by a pro.

i am running my set up on and chipped si computer right now. i was wondering about a p72 because im pretty sure the fuel trim is better suited for my set up.considering that a gsr and type r run the same fuel injectors the issue has to be with the pulse width duration. i was just putting out there that i wanted to fix my problem right. everyone i talk to about it just says oh just put in a chipped p28. i have nothing agianst putting in a chipped p28 once my car is running right ,not just doing it to cover up problems

OIC. Well, a chipped p28 wouldn't really "cover up the problem," as you say because you'd have to reprogram it with an entirely new basemap. What ever software you use would be customizing the fuel maps to match your setup throughout the entire RPM band. But if you want to run an OEM ECU and basemap, then try a p72. See if you have a friend you can borrow one from just to see if that solves your issue instead of buying a p72 only to see that it still runs lean.

yeah i think im going to try it. if that doesnt work i guess i am going to have to man up and get some injectors in the mean time. do u think there will be an issue with my car not haveing the iab valve function

That's the thing, if you don't have IABs, and you run a P72 ECU, I think you will throw a CEL.

thanks for the info. well i have a obd2 gsr computer, i just had to look for it. well i tryed it yester day and of coarse it threw a cel. it is a little more work then first thought. i had to repin the fuel pump and i am currently trying to wire in a iabs. car has way more top end but sacrificed bottom end. also looking deeper in to gsrs, i found out that they hit vtec at 5200 rpm and the secondarys open at 5750rpm. it feels a little weard hittin vtec so low. as far as all around runing better, dont no yet cause i cant use my honda pgmfi tester untill i fine a good gsr vin. with that tester i can see the fuel trim and o2 sensor imputs. but ill keep u posted. i will tell u one thing each of the computers make the car completly different

The "non-retard" route would be to run an OBD I ECU (P28 or P72) in coordination with some form of tuning (Hondata, Chrome, etc.).

What kind of intake manifold are you running? If you don't have a GSR manifold then there will not be any IABs to wire up.
In addition, VTEC on a GSR kicks in at ~4400 not 5200.
