Lately I find my self interested in the lives and training of the old school bodybuilders. I'm not really a fan of the grotesque look of the current Mr. Olympia guys, but I like the 60's and 70's guys like Vince Gironda, Dave Draper, Arnold, Serge Nubret, and Frank Zane. I can appreciate how they built balanced physiques, instead of just getting as big as possible. I mean, Zane won Mr. Olympia at 5'9", 185lbs.
Not really sure what my point is, I guess just seeing if anyone else agrees, disagrees, or even gives a damn!

Those guys compared to the Coleman, cutler, warren, Martinez, wolf etc from today? Even Ferrigno is tiny compared to the top 6 at the Olympia.

That's all opinion. I like the big monster guys. I think the monster era really started with Dorian Yates, maybe a little before.
Arnold is great but he's probably 60lbs lighter than coleman or curler on contest day and he's 4 inches taller than them both.

Of course it's all opinion, I think we all agree on that. I don't think anyone is discouraging or discounting the hard work that the "monster" guys put in. I think rather there is somewhere inside us the idea of a "perfect" body, sort of like a golden ratio rectangle. I think that in my mind, that perfect look is about where the guys I mentioned are/were. While they are bigger than the pre-steroid guys, they still look like they could have possibly achieved that body without steroids, everything else being perfect (even though we know they used). The guys today you know could not achieve their size and leanness without 1+ gram of test a week, HGH, IGF, clen, DNP, etc. To me, the guys today look way unnatural. Again, it's all just opinion, so take it with a grain.

While I think it would be cool to be that strong and that big...IDK. Every single person who sees you knows you're a juicehead. It just doesn't look natural.

I just think they are so big that they are a walking heart attack or stroke. I appreciate the mass monsters more than clubsi, I am cure but I could never commit to killing myself to get that big.

I like them both really. If the question were which would I rather look like it's no question the guys from 60's and 70's. But which ones to look at? The newer guys are just so freakish looking I can't help but be fascinated by the insane size they have. The only thing I really don't like is the HGH gut I think it just looks terrible Take Arnolds core and put it on Coleman though and I think that'd be the ultimate Olympian!

I wonder how those guys feel. Do they wake up feeling awesome or just like a drug addict, they need 20 things to get going /clueless
I'd imagine they feel awesome. HGH is a wonder drug man, literally.
Most of them probably take large amounts of time off the sauce/hgh etc. I know Coleman always said he did for a few months after the olympia or in the spring.
