ok here is the thing...i was trying to offer some help/info to someone in the 06 si section and 06redsi bust in talking about how his 3" exhaust performs so well and is quiet. Well obviously i questioned this cuz with the mods he has if anything he would hurt his tq from such a large diameter piping with the minor mods hes has. So i tried to reason to show why this is the case so anyone wouldnt be misled. I have NEVER heard of a n/a honda with that large of piping and the perf./tq suffering and yet he goes as far to claim he gained 33wtq over stock baseline with his 3" exhaust....of course i say that is 100% bs. Even with his other mods i dont think he gained 33wtq all together much less just by increasing pipe diameter to 3". Like i said i just dont want others to be misled by false info. So if some other people can help to explain how this isnt possible in this particular application id appreciate it cuz he obviously has been misinformed himself or is just ver foolish...here is the link...thanks for stopping the spread of wrong info/ignorance

as far as N/A dont think so,when i had a 2.5 put on my civic i lost tq from the lack if backpressure.on a boost app this is very different.

like i said im not trying to be a jerk but he's passing on false info to others that dont know any better and ignorance has no place in a froum where people rely on others for help

Although you can go too big, the loss of torque experienced is not due to backpressure. Search out posts from Dave at SMSP on HT for a more detailed and accurate explanation.

I was about to address that issue; often times people think back pressure helps. I don't know where this myth came from.

I'm willing to bet most of that dude's gain is from deleting the cat (kinda like how the DCRH that deletes the cat gives seemingly sick gains).

well thats what ive always understood to be the case for n/a motors..you dont want to much but not too little..but turbo you want as little as possible....cuz i will admit i took of my cat on my car so i was basicaly running nothin more than the exhaust manifold and the car was a beast...in first gear it just wanted to spin the tires and would just pull insanely...so could someone provide a link or what is covered by dave so this is cleared up...like is said i just dont want misinformaiton passed on and if im doing the same i want to be clear on it as well..thanks

if you were just running the manifold without the collector i hope you didn't toast up any valves

i just ran around the block to see if it was even possible(noise wise) to run it like that for a day until the cat came in..but didnt have to do that...just gutted my cat...

as far as the toasted valves comment....i thought thats the reason you need some back pressure on n/a apllications to prevent burning the valves? of course ive also heard thats bot the cae on newr cars..dont know what the reasoning on that is.....like i said if anyone could point me towards some good info on backpressure/exhaust id appreciate....like i said its always been my understanding that you need some back pressure on n/a applications

where is this dyno plot of 33 whp with a 3 inch exhaust?

I know more about Hondas then you will ever hope to know in your lifetime.

Now go install your altezzas and hook up your underbody neon kits and keep the performance side to those of us that know what the fuck we are talking about.

idiotic?,not really but you have to have 10k in N/A mods in order to do this.on his 06 si this is not possible, their are not enough supporting mods in order to archive this.on a b18-b20-f22 with everything under the sun avalible maybe
