This is actually my second edition, as I was totally and completely unhappy with the ceramic braking system. It was noisy, and didn't quite work that well.

Porsche's standard brakes are good enough to bring a GMC Suburban hauling a 23 foot Donzi down from speed, so after some heavy negotiating, they took the PCCB car back and I got this one. It happened to already have D's (20s) thrown on this bitch, so I kept it that way. yes, the rear lip is wide enough for a small human to run around in.

This is after having it detailed just over in Coral Gables.

I have a very big decision to make once again. I never buy first year cars, but the Audi R10 is beginning to look very hot! I drove an R8, and I was terribly impressed. Stupid Germans! Stop making good cars already!

Oh, and I have rearmount turbos too, so as long as it isn't at the strip, I think I can holeshot Jon. ;\)

It's not just beginning to look hot.

With just hours to go on the last test day, the worst thing happened to the Audi test team working on the prototype for the V-10 version of Audi's R8 supercar.

Just coming into the Brünnchen part of the Nürburgring, this million euro Audi RS8 prototype caught fire and burned up. There's not much left of this super-fast super car with a V-10 engine. The only thing revealing that it was the RS8 are the wheels and the mid-engine layout. Just the roll bar survived the fire, leaving a skeleton of remains.

The fire was probably started by an oil or gasoline leak. But most important, the driver didn't get hurt, according to our information.

Audi still is planning the 500-hp, V-10 version of the R8 for a 2009 model year launch.

I've tried to think of the mid engine supercars that haven't burnt up during testing, and it's a short list. ;\)

Very nice car, Mike! Need some video of it \:D

But I gotta say, man...those wheels are hideous. Being black is no excuse ;\)

I bought the car as you see it. As with many Porsches, they sometimes come with shit from the catalog. At the time, I was very unhappy with my PCCB car, and this was the replacement I was offered. Getting a new replacement car because you are unhappy is very rare, so I gave no argument.

The wheels are middle ground with me. I don't like them enough that I constantly question if I should replace them, but I like them enough that i don't actually get around o replacing them. I'll tell you one thing however, this is the first car I have ever owned with 20 inch wheels, and let me tell you, the size is rather fetching. If I decide to go with my standard fare (HRE 540s), I will most definitely get them in the same size and offset.

I really like this car though. It's very comfortable for something that can tear as much ass as this thing can. I just can't imagine a better car, except for the fucking R10.

I'm not a big fan of nineteen inch and up sized wheels, but that Porsche looks really good anyway. I like the big deep offset look of the back wheels. Reminds me of when Bimmers came with those. They were the Hotness IMO.

If it were me, I'd definatetly be careful with speedbumps and freaking potholes. Even if they are Porsche factory wheels, I'm sure they'll still bend/warp in a heartbeat with the smallest of pebbles.

Wheels looks fine to me. Sure, maybe not perfect, but much better than stock and pretty badass still.

Thanks for the compliments. ;\)

Well, that is part of why I like these wheels. If I destroy them, I really won't give a shit. So I drive how I like. Miami isn't granted with as much speed bumps and potholes as most places, so they seem to be holding up well. Stock wheels are 19 inchers, so having 20 inchers isn't much of a departure from stock at all.

But overall, I think that wheels of this size get a bad rep for bending and breaking because most companies selling wheels of this size make them out of Fingerhut metal in China. Even my beloved HRE has been getting serious complaints on the Viper and other exotic forums about bending and breaking, with many people evacuating to Iforged and CCW. Only problem that presents is that I think that pretty much everything that CCW and Iforged makes either looks way too "tuner" for my taste, or doesn't have a place on anything but a Corvette.

Hard to find a wheel these days that simply looks sporty and classy, instead of some stupid piece of jewelry that doesn't even match the car. I took these because I didn't pay anything extra for it. These wheels are interesting to my eyes, but I wouldn't buy them for anything more than $700. I am sure they are worth more, but not to me.

There's a lot to be said for that, too.

I guess I'm just getting old, or maybe I've seen so many ricers with RIMZ that I associate most aftermarket wheels with trashy rides. It's rare that I see a porsche (or viper or lambo or nsx or whatever) with aftermarket wheels that I don't think "ugh, ricer with a lot of money". Even if the stockers may not look AWESOME at least they don't look cheap or ricey (20" stockers may be too big, but at least they're OEM and they *did* come with the car, whereas 20" aftermarket wheels everyone knows you went out and spent a lot of time and money picking them out and buying them).
