As far as the video, nice run, but you want to be careful, hard on your motor, and @ that speed, it can be deadly...

Well so far so good... I've been boosted probably 10k miles and my car's internals are all stock with 118k on them.. Still runs like a champ... I don't normally run my car like that.. It's usually a daily summer commuter to work.. But as of right now my hondata is messed up so Turbo-Charged is helping me get that fixed..

Black is usually richness

Blue would be oil

White could be oil also or coolant....

Gab, I think we went over this a while back, you are fine....

I know all of that!

Question: If you swipe your finger on the inside of your exhaust, what happens? When I do this on mine, my finger gets covered in black and smells like gas. Is that normal, I don't think so!

get a GT28RS it is a little bigger than a t3/t4 dual ball bearing and spools very fast

If i were looking at the boost levels/HP numbers that you guys are, I would not be considering the 28RS... the GT30R is a slightly larger turbo + use external wastegate + less top-end dropoff. Slightly longer spool time but you should be able to get it to spool by 3600, 3700rpm with some breathing help... one of those nice Edelbrock IMs, bigger TB, and GSR cams should do the trick.

I dont understand what your saying. YOur hating on the gt28rs but you skip the gt2871r and go straing to a turbo that doesn't make boost till 5500 rpm and then tell us it spools at 3600? Posotive manifold pressure is what your talking about? The gt28 anything will give you that shit at like 2krpm. 10lb before 4k every day.

And you really think / have seen a TB make a difference in turbo spool? I thought turbo spool was almost directly related to the velocity of the air as it passes over the turbine. I know there is a pressure change that causes the turbine to spin, on top of the mass of particles hitting the wheels.

GSR cams really wont make your turbo spool earlier.

The Edelbrock manifold has never really moved the power curve down on any before/after dyno's i've seen...

you dont need an equal lenght mani for high hp.
friend's 00yr Teg runs 9s with inlinepro mani.

The turbo i'm getting will put 400+whp down on pump gas with a nice equal length manifold and a nice intake manifold. It will make slighlty less, i'd say 380 on a cast mani, as well as having more of that 'puke and die'

But i've decided to go with the GT2871R .86 housing with a standard comp wheel.

Am I still thinking about B18C numbers here or am i just flat out wrong? The GT30R isn't that much bigger of a turbo, you could also just use it's compressor side on a GT28RS I guess, plus I have never heard of the GT2871....

I have been getting alot of stuff wronglately maybe my brain is rattled

the gt28rs was modified. New comp housing, new wheels on both sides. Its called the gt2871r. I know a guy making 380whp on pump gas on a 2871r .63 on the turbine.

10lb at or before 4k

The GT3071R is way better than the full on GT30, new design with faster spool and similar power. There are a thousand variations of the 30r with lots of different housings and wheels on either side.

Unless your talking about the smallest gt30, with i think is the 3071r with the .63 ehxaust side your still talking about a turbo that will hit full boost after 5.5k Assuming your not running 6lb of boost

Now we need some turbo vendors on this site to make sure what i said is correct

Check it out here: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=tp&Category_Code=GRT

I hit 10 lbs right around 4600....
21lbs @ 5500

Thats still with a MBC.....I hear with an EBC, you can sometimes see gains of couple hundred Rpms.....

Not bad for a non BB turbo.....on a b16....

I just don't see what all the hype is about....why would someone want to pay 1200+ bucks for ~600 more rpm....?

because i will spool 600rpms faster than you, and make more power. Your talking 400whp on race gas, i'm talking 400 on pump everyday.

EXVtec, now is your chance to talk me out of a blalbearing turbo, lol. I can afford either a GT2871r (1200 at my door) and use my cracked old manifold or get an equal length manifold/dp (900 on HT) and sit on the extra 300 till I buy some lame old t3/t4

And transient response, when you floor it the gt turbo will shooom up to full boost faster than yours. That is because they have new wheel technology the wheels just spin up faster and offer less restriction than your turbo, they are more efficient. So you make more power at less boost.

I'm not going to talk you out of it.

Alot of $$ for that......

My entire build was done with budget in mind....You can always throw $$ @ something, but spend less than the next guy and gain the same outcome...thats what I enjoy...

Don't get me wrong, if I could have afforded it, I would have went BB, but like I said, I am happy with my old technology turbo....
