So, in the market for a second TV.

Current setup:
- 55" LG LCD 3DTV
- fairly heavy
- will be wall-mounted, in the bedroom
- will use Rogers SD box (for now)
- will use Chromecast for desktop-sharing, has built-in (old) Smart shit to do NetFlix.

New Setup for living room:
- > 55" LED
- It'll be about 6-8 ft from the couch, mounted at eye-level (not above fireplace)
- Not sure we need 4K? I don't have all the great channels on Rogers, and we don't watch sports much
- Curved? S/O complains how we didn't buy one previously.
- Budget: $1000-1500.

I was just thinking of picking this up... Thoughts? I'm not expecting grand sales during Christmas, etc... and we're not the type of people to buy a Vizio just cuz it's cheaper.

https://www.costco.ca/Samsung-UN55MU6500-55-in-Curved-Smart-4K-LED-TV.product.100356499.html

The remote looks interesting ... I prefer non-traditional, mouse/wand-like remotes.

Curved? Nah, we find more customers order flat than curved, I myself don't see the hype

Vizio are good bang for the buck. Weve seen issues with the HDMI and input module on the samsungs soo...

In that price range, for that size? Doubt it.

Depending on the placement, it could look sweet. In my case, it's going against a long wall, mounted, so I also think a flat one would be ideal.

It's gonna suck that I'll need a table of some sort under it, to house all the electronics and shit...</NotAMansion>

I have 2 65" OLED tv's at home. One was from 2015 and is curved, no choice at the time as the 65" was only offered with curve, but the curve is less than Samsung. If you alresdybhsve have a budget of $1500 you might as well wait for black Friday and you can pick up a LG B7 55" for $2000.

Forget Samsung it is all garbage. All of it, shit for reliability and picture sucks ass compared to OLED.

Your logic is retarded. Do some research online about Vizio, they perform as well as big brand name if not better. I would totally consider a Vizio as my next TV.

Who makes the panels for Vizio?
While Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung and LG all make their own panels and assemble their own HDTVs, Vizio makes nothing. They buy LCD panels and parts from outside companies and relies on third-party factories, mainly those owned and operated by the Taiwanese company AmTran, to assemble these parts into TVs.Apr 5, 2012

d00de don't get curved it's shit.
stick to LED 4K and HDR if you can, OLED would be ideal doe!

i have a sony x900c 55" basement 4k HDR super thing and it's pure sex
also a 40" bravia 850 series in fam room and it's great too, i get good pricing on them.

vizio good bang for the buck but chunky and build quality/fit and finish...eiiihh....

if you can't go sony then go samsung, then LG.
if yuo can afford OLED get the new sony or LG - TITS!

just be careful of the MODEL# you're buying to make sure it has all the things you need and should be getting in a 4K tv.

why i also like sony....ANDROID operating system, you can just have all your apps downloaded right from Play store on it! also use .adk files to run emulator/roms and shit. Also KODI and Showbox right on your TV.

sharp LED's aren't bad either still.
sucks panny left \:\(

I've never getting rid of my Panny VT. I search Kijiji probably once a month looking for people getting rid of them or the Pioneer plasmas.

Ive got 2 Samsung LED TVs, a 70 and a 50. Both purchased online on Boxing Day last year for about $3500 for the pair.

I was a die hard plasma owner, but these TVs are fucking spectacular. 4K, HDR, UHD upscaling, built in Netflix/Amazon/Crave/Youtube, thin and light. Im real happy with them. Zero complaints.

I don't mind the curve on the 65 since we sit 9 feet away and I find off centre viewing better if you're off to the side. My man cave is a 65 OLED as well but flat. Do they even make curve screens anymore?
I wanted a 77" OLED by at $15k that's a bit much L O L

Is it me... or it's atypical to 'mount' components along the TV mount?

I've been hunting for little shelves that mount and 'move' with the TV as needed, and... besides a sound bar angle brackets, it's pretty rare...

(For now, I'm looking at low-pro and/or tilting mounts. No need for one that pulls out or angles.)

like this:

You have no other option but to mount on top of the fireplace?

Pretty much no other "good" option for this room. The TV would be behind a retractable projector screen, don't always want to run the big screen when the gf is just watching her shows or whatever.

Looks like this:

So, picked up a 65" LED LG, and a massive articulating tv mount ...

(I love the new 'WebOS 3.5' Smart part of the tv ... the control is sweet too.)

Was hoping to hide cables behind the wall by punching 2 holes and just threading them behind the drywall, but apparently it's an exterior wall, as as such, pushing cables thru may damage the plastic membrane/etc and cause condensation/etc (so says an experienced buddy who helped install.)

So now I gotta figure out those shitty channel things that 'hide' cables...

In removing the tv 'table' I had, holy fuck I have a massive birds nest of cables/wires I now need to clean up with velcro ties ... \:\|
