So, in the market for a second TV.
Current setup: - 55" LG LCD 3DTV - fairly heavy - will be wall-mounted, in the bedroom - will use Rogers SD box (for now) - will use Chromecast for desktop-sharing, has built-in (old) Smart shit to do NetFlix.
New Setup for living room: - > 55" LED - It'll be about 6-8 ft from the couch, mounted at eye-level (not above fireplace) - Not sure we need 4K? I don't have all the great channels on Rogers, and we don't watch sports much - Curved? S/O complains how we didn't buy one previously. - Budget: $1000-1500.
I was just thinking of picking this up... Thoughts? I'm not expecting grand sales during Christmas, etc... and we're not the type of people to buy a Vizio just cuz it's cheaper.

The remote looks interesting ... I prefer non-traditional, mouse/wand-like remotes.

In that price range, for that size? Doubt it.
Depending on the placement, it could look sweet. In my case, it's going against a long wall, mounted, so I also think a flat one would be ideal.
It's gonna suck that I'll need a table of some sort under it, to house all the electronics and shit...</NotAMansion>
Curved? Nah, we find more customers order flat than curved, I myself don't see the hype

I love my Vizio M70-C3. Although I've heard the newer ones with the tablet remotely thing can be a pain in the ass.

I've never getting rid of my Panny VT. I search Kijiji probably once a month looking for people getting rid of them or the Pioneer plasmas.

Ive got 2 Samsung LED TVs, a 70 and a 50. Both purchased online on Boxing Day last year for about $3500 for the pair.
I was a die hard plasma owner, but these TVs are fucking spectacular. 4K, HDR, UHD upscaling, built in Netflix/Amazon/Crave/Youtube, thin and light. Im real happy with them. Zero complaints.

Is it me... or it's atypical to 'mount' components along the TV mount?
I've been hunting for little shelves that mount and 'move' with the TV as needed, and... besides a sound bar angle brackets, it's pretty rare...
(For now, I'm looking at low-pro and/or tilting mounts. No need for one that pulls out or angles.)

If we're talkin mounts, loudsubz, what do you think of those fireplace-specific mounts that swing out and down?

You have no other option but to mount on top of the fireplace?

Pretty much no other "good" option for this room. The TV would be behind a retractable projector screen, don't always want to run the big screen when the gf is just watching her shows or whatever.

And wait in line with a bunch of RFD mouth-breathers who emerged from their parents' basement for the first time this year?
No thanks.

So, picked up a 65" LED LG, and a massive articulating tv mount ...
(I love the new 'WebOS 3.5' Smart part of the tv ... the control is sweet too.)
Was hoping to hide cables behind the wall by punching 2 holes and just threading them behind the drywall, but apparently it's an exterior wall, as as such, pushing cables thru may damage the plastic membrane/etc and cause condensation/etc (so says an experienced buddy who helped install.)
So now I gotta figure out those shitty channel things that 'hide' cables...
In removing the tv 'table' I had, holy fuck I have a massive birds nest of cables/wires I now need to clean up with velcro ties ...
