I just got 7L/100km driving 1800km in Buick Regal all weekend (mostly highway). And that bitch makes 250hp and 300tq from a 2.0L turbo 4. The .gov rating is 8L/100km highway

TLX better be able to do that or better. It's rated at 6.6L/100km hwy for the 4-cyl.

This is my second TLX and I obviously really like the car. The 18 is a huge improvement over my 15, so much so that it doesnt even feel like the same car.

Ive got a lead foot and drive mostly in the city and I still get around 9-10L/100km.

Denis if you even want to go for a boot, shoot me a pm.

How is the auto tranny on it? I can't imagine buying a TL/TLX as a sport sedan without a proper DSG...and it's a shame they don't come in manual. After driving a variety of cars, the honda manual tranny is so damn good. WTF is wrong with these OEM's, better yet what is wrong with people not buying manual and opting out for some third world paddle shift autos

I think people that buy TLX don't realty care for a proper DSG anyways. Throw it in D and forget about it.

I know I wont be buying a manual car for a long time. Love my auto accord. aint nobody got time to shift lol

yeah the base tranny 8spd is nice/smooth (i think a honda unit), the v6 did have complaints with the 9spd getrag but they finally got the software updated and most of them are fine. i think it was more rough/harsh shifting. but yeah it's to bad no manual....at least the new Accord has stick in both the engine options, turbo and non.

a single stage 1 reflash to the 2018 Accord 2L (CTR detuned) motor and bam, nice power in auto or stick. but again they market study this shit YEAR over YEAR and as usual the market says ppl want auto ugh. i mean they are way better than before re. mileage at least, much smoother too (for the most part lol).

i think TLX A-spec in 4banger the price jumps from the base but still way undert he v6 A-spec option.

honda has their own 10spd (in 2018 Ody now) coming down the line for more vehicles i'm sure. so that'll be nice, fuck getrag crap units.

oh and the 2020 TLX.....you guys will lose your shit

I am OK with not driving manual but if you are an ethusiast and you settle for Cambodia tech pack Honda auto you have either never driven a proper paddle shift or you aren't an ethusiast.

k gents i'm contemplating a half decent winter beater/DD car in the coming months, should i park the R once i finally get the body/paint work done on it. anyone know someone selling something or suggestions? i'll go thru usual channels I have too.

-say 10k range give or take $2k (damn i see some i'd want are 14k+ lol)
-must be 4 door or wagon (will consider honda element still)
-clean car, non smoker, no bullshit / rebuild / crap like that
-high mileage no biggie if well maintained since i drive short distances (lower mileage ideal though)
-ideally auto since then then wifey can drive it (i'd prefer stick but last resort)
-doing my best to get something that runs fine on 87oct, but shit most i want prob need 91+ lol

Usual options:
05-06 TL - cheaper but pre minor model change
07-08 TL (non type-S) - ok on reg gas? - vas man your car woulda been ideal lol
06-08 TL type-s - needs 91+ for sure, costs more overall
06+ (?) toyota/lexus something or other?

06+ (?) audi A4/S4 avant (maybe sedan) - but am i "asking for it"?
06+ (?) bimmer something or other? - same as above?
06+ (?) merc something or other? - same as above?
06+ (?) accord sedan, or even newer - prob best fit but i like the old TL's

not touching subie but so tempting to get an older used STI. meh.
any other suggestions?

i know the mngr here and sooo tempted to just go grab one of these lol:

I'd stay away from the B7 (and B8) A4s. The two litre turbos had/have an oil consumption issue. For the most part, Audi will cover the change of the pistons but you HAVE to have all of the oil service records to show from day one it's had it's oil changes every 15,000km or annually. If you're missing even one, you're looking at a $7k job at a dealer.

The only issue with the S4 that was somewhat common was carbon build-up. Also covered by an extend service campaign. I'd say this usually pops up around the 150-180 k range. MIL with a bit of lag when getting on the gas is the usual indicator. If it's out of the extended coverage, you're looking at 5-6 hours (I think) of labor.

My buddy's a5 got taken in today for phase 1 of the oil issue he has to top up the car every 200km.

The s4 v6 supercharged I don't have any oil consumption issues. The carbon build up also seems to plague the a4 mostly. Don't know of many ppl doing the carbon clean on s4's

TL is a great car. Only downside is that it's a big bitch yet doesn't have much room inside and the rear seats don't fold. Otherwise it's a perfect commuter.
