From time to time, I have people that want in on "flipping" homes.

I'll be focusing more time in real estate investments and start helping people manage their flips/renovations. I don't need clients now but I'd like to be able to build a business that isn't just funded by my own projects.

With that said, if you wanted me to manage your project, do you care if I show up in:

Or do you need me to show up in:

I don't need a truck to manage my trades and if I need to run errands for them, I can tow a utility trailer with the Range Rover.

My brother runs his own renovations company in BC. He used to show up in a Civic, saves gas costs, when quoting jobs.
He switched to a 1500 GMC and business is doing much better.

Sooooo if you are showing up to a job site, I would say "dress" like it. I don't want a guy in a range rover telling me how much stairs will cost. That bastard probably never swung a hammer in his life!

if you get a truck, better do this mod first. The growth in your business package will be huge.

There is truth to this though, need to look the part and instill confidence.

%100 true though!!

Save the range rover for the weekend golf trips. Save your money, don't even buy a denali. Just lease a mid range diesel 4x4, and put a hard hat on the dash board lol

Yup got to look the part. It's like a realtor rolling up in a corolla vs. Range Rover.

Maybe a used one, so it looks like it's been... used. This is how I look at it, wrong or right... people want you to solve their problems (financial, general contractors, whatever it is) and want to know that you can and that you have in the past for others. Nobody wants to be the first client, but they all want the ground floor deal. Regarding displayed assets you want to show that you're doing well, but not too well. That Denali will haul less drywall than my M3 has.

hahaha it's true, most times it's the base V6 2wd trucks with steel wheels and bench seats that get beat to death

The truck looks more legit IMO.
Especially when you're talking PM and management of renos and all that jazz.
Either way, it would never cross my mind to care anything for the car which the business owner drives...

But if you're talking broad audience, imo, the truck is more credible than some fancy pants suv. range rover SUV = wallet mechanic. Do not want a wallet mechanic running projects.

A truck is a must in the contractor world, unless you've grown big enough where you can show up in a range/lade.

so will you essentially be a GC?
or the company the pree's the whole thing and works with the gc?
also, will the clientele you deal with 99% of the time be driving the same level of vehicle anyway?

dealing with regular people = get f150

dealing with wealthy = luxury vehicle

ive seen all kinds of gc's working in big homes. all depends on how hands on you will be and if you need to haul any equipment/material.

typical

it's amazing how much of an impact something like a work vehicle will make. You could be the worlds worst handyman but if you have a truck that looks the part you will be getting calls off the hook \:\)

I will be the project manager that manages the GC.

Having done a number of renovations, I've acquired some valuable contacts and experience (from renovating as cheap as possible for a flip to as nice as possible for myself) that your typical GC may not offer like splurge for Caesarstone countertops in the kitchen as the Chinese crap will chip and stain very easily... spend an extra $150 and get a Toto toilet, $50 more for a Grohe, german designed, faucet, etc.

I am in the process of becoming a licensed realtor so my pitch down the road would be buy with me and I will help you manage your renovations and offer my advice.

The most I'll probably lift is a few boxes of missing tiles... anything more would be delivered by the suppliers or loaded up into a utility trailer and dropped off to the site (and have the GC unload).
