So got a quote to do the GT3. Full bumper, hood and fenders. Rocker panel and rear bumper by the tire and all lenses and mirror caps and will cost $2000.

All the panels being covered are no longer original paint, as they were all chipped to hell. The cost of repaint ting isn't far off from doing PPF.

WWCSID?

I'm leaning towards not doing it as I'm not a fan of PPF to begin with. But after peeling off the old ones on the headlight I'm sold as far as protection is concerned.

Who painted the panels, you or the previous owner? The reason I ask is (a) how do you know they were chipped to hell and (b) how good was the work? If the work was subpar (but not visible to the normal eye it will probably be more prone to chips in which case you would want to PPF. Additionally, which do you prefer to PPF in a couple of years or repaint?

I had the car repainted few months ago. Down time isn't a big deal with this car, but at the same time I know stone chips will other me lol. But PPF bothers me too.

if it's not OE paint, then i would re-paint, and then do the PPF on the front bumper and rear fenders, save yourself some coin and just get the opti-coat for the headlights and keep them nice and clean (unless you plan to put 50k a year on the car). IMO, you don't drive it enough to need a full PPE. also, keep in mind that the paint has to be 100% corrected before the paint is applied, so make sure that whoever is doing the correction on the aftermarket paint knows what they are doing.

what is it that you don't like about the PPF? (aside from the price)

are we talking about 3M hood strips or real PPF like this?

The answer is neither since the car will put on the same mileage as my MR2. Maybe even less considering my car gets rolled around from time to time. \:D

Since the paint isn't original, I'd just leave it as is. You can always paint again later if need be.
